Why does the job exist?
This position assists the Oil Conservation Division's (OCD) Engineering Bureau Administrative Permitting Program to ensure OCD goals and objectives are met. This position primarily will assist the work of the Administrative Permitting Program; and have the technical expertise to: help design and develop programs to address new technical issues as they arise and as technical advances in the oil and gas industry are implemented; understand and administer the Administrative Permitting Programs, including write memos, act as a alternate hearing examiner and prepare orders, and write memos and conduct meetings.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:
* Degree in engineering or similar
* Experience in the oil and gas industry
* Regulatory Experience
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Geological Engineering and six (6) years of experience in a government regulatory role including oil field experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Must maintain and possess a current New Mexico Driver¿s License. Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Some field/facility site inspections required.
