Position: Foreman, HVAC
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Design, plan, install and repair all districtwide air conditioning and heating systems and equipment.

Tools/Equipment Used: Operates and utilizes all types of HVAC repair and diagnostic equipment and a variety of hand and power tools; light truck or van.
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching.
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over).
Environment: Works outside and inside; works around machines with moving parts; works around moving objects or vehicles; works on ladders and/or scaffolding; exposure to electrical shock; gas, refrigerants, sewage, dampness, humidity, toxic chemicals, explosive environments and airborne dusts; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; exposure to extreme temperatures and other irritants; exposure to chemical and conductive burns; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.

Education/Certification:
- GED/High School Diploma (preferred)
- Valid Texas Drivers License; must be insurable by district's insurance carrier
- Completion of at least a four year apprenticeship or a two-year technical school with emphasis on air conditioning/refrigeration or State of Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor's license (preferred)
- CFC Certification (required).
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the theory and operation of major heavy commercial air conditioning and heating systems.
- Knowledge of the theory and operation of major air distribution systems
- Knowledge of air balancing procedures
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and construction plans
- Ability to operate various types of HVAC equipment
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the HVAC trade and the necessary safety precautions
- Ability to diagnose and repair various HVAC system malfunctions
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, publications and preventative maintenance programs
- Ability to operate energy management control systems
- Proficient communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supervise and schedule all of the HVAC department.
- Develop and maintain HVAC maintenance budget.
- Price, order and maintain HVAC materials and supplies in accordance with district policy and bidding laws.
- Supervise and operate energy management control systems.
- Coordinate, maintain, repair and/or replace air conditioning systems, heating systems, environmental control systems, ventilation systems, hot water boilers, water pumps, refrigeration equipment and gas kitchen equipment.
- Design, supervise and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for new and existing HVAC components and systems.
- Supervise, instruct and schedule training for HVAC personnel and district employees.
- Recommend cost and time effective courses of actions for critical repair projects relating to HVAC components and systems.
- Interface with manufacturers to obtain technical data and manuals for systems existing in the district.
- Determine financial feasibility of repair or replacement for HVAC components and systems.
- Ensure district's compliance with all regulatory agencies requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well organized environment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
