Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced CAD Administrator for Solidworks to lead the implementation, deployment and management of SolidWorks within the ABB Electrification (EL) Engineering Applications domain in conjunction with Windchill PLM. You will provide high-level expertise by partnering with group leaders, team leaders, engineers and other users of the system to develop processes that align with business needs and process requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for developing automation to increase efficiency and reduce repetitive work for users. This role is responsible for creating processes and work instructions used within SolidWorks and Windchill in order to drive standardization and harmonization, ensuring the delivery of high-quality IS services. Due to the nature of this role, very good communication skills and the ability to interact with different user groups around the world is a must. The Global CAD Admin - Solidworks will drive the following activities: • Oversee the global administration and management of SolidWorks CAD software and its interfaces to Windchill PLM engineering software via Windchill WGM. • Remain up to date with the latest releases of software. Initiate and coordinate global roll-outs, installations, and set-ups in alignment. • Create and maintain CAD standards, design libraries, guidelines and templates by closely collaborating with global key users in engineering teams. • Create and maintain applications using the programming languages VB.NET and Windows Batch. • Work closely with SolidWorks key users across the globe, focusing on all ELDS locations and organize / moderate global key user meetings and expert level support. • Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the application and high-performance computer hardware. • Work together with software providers to document problems, follow up on tickets, and resolve issues to the satisfaction of end users.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Design, Computer Science, or CAD-related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience as a SolidWorks Administrator or Power User and 2+ years of experience with Windchill and Windchill Workgroup Manager for CAD data management and configuration.
• In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks technically and functionally, with strong proficiency in Windchill PLM and Workgroup Manager.
• Proficient in batch scripting and programming languages (VB.Net, SolidWorks VBA) for SolidWorks customization and automation.
• Ability to align technology solutions with business strategies and operational improvements.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking skills with attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications related to SolidWorks CAD Software and PTC Windchill (Technical Essentials, Advanced, and Professional)
• Fluency in written and spoken English (preferably German as well).
