Context & Environment

Position will be based in Iraq on Ratawi Solar project (or at the Dubai project office) and strongly involved into the project preparation, monitoring and execution.

Close cooperation with TEEP Ratawi affiliate and other GGIP projects will be necessary.

Activities

  1. Lender E&S compliance management for SPV :
    1. Adopt and deploy PROJECTs, Company's E&S standards, ambitions, and commitments,
    2. Active support to PROJECT to ensure compliance with applicable regulation and standards all along its lifetime (local regulation, lenders' requirements - IFC, Company standards and commitments towards E&S),
    3. Define, where applicable and follow-up on status of project's E&S studies and plans, associated planning and budgets,
    4. Raise, report and resolve any E&S incident,
    5. Report progress of E&S activities to the SPV HSE Management and support in reporting to the Company head office,
    6. Participate and be the SPV representative during meetings with key external stakeholders/ communities and during site visits (with Authorities/ Consultants/ Lenders/ Contractors),
    7. Prepare, manage, and update SPP E&S Management System and Plans (including Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Grievance mechanism, Biodiversity Management Plan etc.) in close cooperation with the GGIP Affiliate,


  1. Transverse coordination, related to Lenders:
    1. Ensure close coordination with TEEP Ratawi affiliate E&S team,
    2. Ensure close coordination with REN E&S team,
    3. Participate to various HSE and E&S coordination meetings where required,
    4. Gather and consolidate PROJECT E&S reporting database (including Sustainab'ALL KPIs) and ensure timely reporting as per PROJECT and other applicable requirements,
    5. Participate in various environmental risks evaluation for audits or technical review for internal approval processes if requested.


  1. Supervise lenders E&S Due Diligence process:
    1. Be the E&S focal point for the Lenders and the Technical advisor consultant through the ESDD/ESAP process,
    2. Ensure E&S studies quality control and validate deliverables,
    3. Request timely support from the E&S experts of the Company headquarter for the revision and validation of scope of work and studies deliverables,
    4. Experience and familiarity with the expectations of Lenders related to E&S topics and financing agreements
    5. Monthly IFC compliance reporting
    6. Quarterly Lender IESC site visit co-ordination and follow-up
    7. Bi-annual monitoring reports for Lenders and actions follow-up


  1. Ensure implementation of E&S requirements by Contractors :
    1. Review and approve EPC Construction E&S management plans (CESMP) prior to EPC contract signature and commencement date (for both OHTL and PV),
    2. Monitor and control good implementation of EPC CESMP,
    3. Ensure good coordination between EPC CESMP and SPV ESMS,
    4. Participate to HSE meetings with Contractors' Env. Manager and CLRs, and ensure E&S topics are raised and taken care of,
    5. Conduct E&S site inspection on a regular basis.


  1. Ensure TEEPRH Social Performance Strategy is adhered to :
    1. Ensure reporting to Sustainability Manager and coordination with the Sustainability team for all Social Performance Matters
    2. Ensure SP Requirements are applied & Reported by Solar Contractors to affiliate via enforced mechanisms.


This position is mainly based in Basra - FX.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental or Social engineer or similar
  • Advanced level English (both written and spoken)
  • Arabic is a plus
  • Work experience:

- Minimum as 5 years as E&S Consultant for Project Sponsors and Lenders interactions and/or similar

- Experience in IFC PS, EBRD compliance follow up

- Experience in ESIA processing of renewable projects

- Experience in ESDD reporting and Lender's requirements follow up

- Experience in construction environmental and social management

- Experience in local stakeholder management
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of the International E&S requirements
  • Proven knowledge of IFC PS requirements,
  • Good technical writing
  • Demonstrate Good skills in transverse management
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to HSE topics,
  • Demonstrate organisation and agility,
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, and continuously improving health & safety, and environment management systems requirements.
  • Competence in MS office software applications are necessary.
