Your role and responsibilities
ABB Smart Buildings digitally transforms commercial, industrial and residential buildings for the highest comfort, efficiency, safety and security - enhancing quality of life in buildings of the future through safe, smart and sustainable electrification solutions, services and products. As a R&D Manager, you will be responsible for the development of autonomous emergency lighting products globally and report directly to the director of Global R&D and Technologies for emergency lighting. You will work in collaboration with the various regions and departments to optimize the development of your product line, both in terms of modularity and in connection with cost objectives and regional adaptations. You will be responsible for the quality and development process of your product line. This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Building division of ABB and is located in Dorval. The work model is Hybrid, with 3-4 days per week at the office. • Lead the NAM R&D team for Emergency Lighting in ELSB. • Hold the technical responsibility over the maintenance and the development of North America emergency lighting products portfolio. • Liaise with the other regional R&D managers within the Emergency Lighting business line to secure an efficient and effective cooperation among the respective teams. • Ensure adequate IP management for the NAM products portfolio. • Collaborate with the project managers to monitor activities involving your new product portfolio. • Manage the internal and external capacity of the team to achieve the common objectives. • Collaborate with the product managers to optimize the current and future global product portfolio. • Promote the performance of staff on your team and conduct the annual performance evaluations. • Promote a culture of continuous improvement always in search of quality and efficiency. • Ensure effective knowledge exchange to foster collaboration and the development of new technological approaches and solutions. • Develop and manage the budget under your responsibility.

Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, software, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in similar functions or in a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of product design and development, including electronics, mechanics, and software.
- Experience with digital and analogue product development.
- Experience in modular development on global platforms.
- Experience with the processes and best practices of new product development.
- Experience in resource and performance management.
- Problem-solving and process optimization skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Occasional travel possible.
