What will you be doing?
Subsea7 are looking for a Team Manager (Method) to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team responsible for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation methods to projects and/or tenders supported by the group with specific focus on safe and cost-effective installation operations. This role will be based in our Houston, USA office.
As a Team Manager (Method) you will oversee a team of method engineers, who could be located across several global locations and be working on a variety of pipelay projects (reeling, S-lay & J-Lay) based mainly in GOM, but potentially worldwide. You will be responsible to the Engineering Manager (Methods) for Pipeline Group and assist them in ensuring efficient day-to-day management of the installation methods engineering team and provide regular operational reports on general project engineering activities, technical subject matters, and resource management. You may also be part of, or asked to support, Subsea7's COE for Rigid Pipeline on installation engineering subject matters.
What will your responsibilities involve?
• Ensure that the standard of engineering services provided by the team complies with relevant company engineering standards with a clear focus on efficiency (including safety and operational efficacity) and commerciality of engineering solutions. Ensure engineers are aware of and work with BMS and PM7 processes
• Promote a collaborative environment across all the different offices and with the project and tender teams including the development and update of Subsea7 processes and tools
• Ensure interfaces between Project Engineering Managers and PG Installation Methods Lead Engineers on projects and tenders work properly and intervene, when necessary, in a collaborative manner
• Support the Engineering Manager (Methods) to ensure each installation methods engineering package is delivered as or better than the as-sold corresponding engineering hours budget
o by preparing, reviewing CTRs and histogram issued on tenders
o by performing regular project engineering plan reviews with Lead Engineers
o by following regularly Engineering S-Curves produced by relevant engineering and enforce right level of effective reporting is produced
• Ensure traceable interface process is in place focusing on safe and cost-effective installation, client's product integrity and budgeted engineering hours
• Support the Engineering Manager (Method) on
o Allocation of resources to a project or tender
o Assisting in career development of the individual team members, including Compass discussions, training plans, etc
o Assisting in recruitment for the Installation Methods team.
What are we looking for?
• Sound experience in rigid pipeline installation engineering methods
• Previous experience leading teams would be beneficial but proven ability to lead and function within a project team, providing regular and constructive feedback is essential
• Ability to prioritise own and others' workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members, where constraints will affect a project in terms of schedule, quality and or budget
• Ability to effectively solve problems, within a context of cost, contract, and risk management
• A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish relationships and communicate across a variety of stakeholders both internal and external.
