Laboratory Service Technician

Location: Onshore Operations, Doha, Qatar

Job Purpose

The Laboratory Service Technician is responsible for managing the procurement, replacement, and inventory of chemicals, glassware, and laboratory materials. This includes maintaining the cleanliness and organization of storage areas and ensuring the availability of materials required to meet operational needs for all QatarEnergy LNG laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Management:
   • Process and maintain records for chemicals, glassware, and spare parts. Issue or provide data for internal and external reports, evaluate stock levels, and optimize inventory.

    

2. Material Procurement:
   • Prepare estimates for required materials, ensure the correct specifications are ordered, and ensure that quality standards are documented and compliant with company practices.

    

3. Procurement Support:
   • Assist in preparing procurement plans and creating material requisitions. Coordinate with the Supply department to ensure timely delivery of materials.

    

4. Vendor and Requisition Review:
   • Participate in reviewing requisitions and vendor documentation. Attend meetings with supply teams to ensure items meet laboratory specifications.

    

5. Inventory Control System Support:
   • Contribute to the development and implementation of an inventory control system to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate inventory counts.

    

6. Hazardous Waste Management:
   • Ensure safe handling, transportation, and storage of hydrocarbon loading retention samples. Participate in audits to verify compliance with company policy.

    

7. Waste Disposal Coordination:
   • Schedule and coordinate the safe disposal of chemicals and hazardous wastes in a timely manner.

    

8. Collaboration & Support:
   • Work with laboratory staff and management to address inventory, waste disposal, and safety concerns. Conduct annual physical inventories of laboratory supplies.

    

9. Communication of Supplies Availability:
   • Distribute information about the availability of supplies and other relevant details to laboratory staff.

    

Person Specification - Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Completion of secondary education (12 years) followed by 2 years of formal trade training.

Experience:

• 3 years of extensive experience in an industrial laboratory in the oil and gas sector.
• Knowledge of laboratory testing methods, chemicals, equipment, sample handling protocols, and data analysis.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proficient in English, with both verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite, LIMS, SAP, and MDG applications.
• Good analytical and numeric skills.
