JOB SUMMARY
The City of Victoria has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Utility Equipment Operator. Under general supervision, the Utility Equipment Operator participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of utilities systems and infrastructure by operating various types of construction equipment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed throughout the City at utility treatment facilities and work sites. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, potentially dangerous tools, equipment, and machinery, noxious fumes and odors, electrical and traffic hazards, and inclement weather conditions. May be required to work in confined spaces, climb in and out of trenches, and lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

JOB SUMMARY
The City of Victoria has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Utility Equipment Operator. Under general supervision, the Utility Equipment Operator participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of utilities systems and infrastructure by operating various types of construction equipment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares job sites by setting signs, cones, barrels, barricades, and other traffic control notifying customers in the area of possible changes being made to roadway and utility service interruptions.
- Operates equipment to include back hoes and jet vacuum trucks to excavate water and wastewater lines, clean sewer mains, and clear mainline stoppages.
- Locates and traces water and wastewater lines; repairs or installs water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
- Uses sewer tapes and motorized rooting machines to clear stoppages in service lines.
- Back fills excavated areas and returns roads to safe traffic condition.
- Inspects, prepares, and maintains all equipment required to perform daily duties; stocks service trucks with parts and equipment needed to complete work orders.
- Completes and submits work orders and technical drawings related to daily tasks.
- Performs on-call duties as assigned.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent AND two (2) years of experience operating construction equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess a valid Class B Commercial driver's license with a tanker endorsement.
- Must possess a Class D Water Operator license or higher.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and TCEQ standards related to water and wastewater systems.
- Familiarity with work safety policies, procedures, and PPE use.
- Experience in records maintenance and retention.
- Reading and accurately interpreting manuals, work orders, maps, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in construction, maintenance, and repair of water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, agencies, and the public.
- Skilled in operating tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Effective organization, prioritization, and deadline management.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain professional relationships.
