About the position:

The Subsea Hardware Engineer part of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine Engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center and is member of a multidiscipline team of engineers who provide subsea hardware technical services and technology development support to Chevron base businesses/operations and projects. The subsea hardware engineer is a subject matter expert (SME) for subsea hardware including trees, manifolds and other structures, valves, connectors, wellheads and piping systems. This is a global technical support role. Scope includes engineering for new/existing equipment, diagnostics for operational support, engineering standards/specification development, and manufacturing/fabrication/testing support.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise for subsea hardware including trees, manifolds and other structures, valves, connectors, wellheads and piping systems.
  • Perform engineering (concepts, project execution & operations) for scopes including equipment design, evaluation of the hardware in the performance of the production systems, manufacturing/fabrication & quality support, operation and maintenance/intervention support for base business operations and projects teams.
  • Know and apply hardware industry specifications, such as API & DNV. The engineer will support continuous development of discipline related Chevron Engineering Standards documentation and technology development and strategic research programs.
  • Analyze equipment performance data, perform engineering calculations and author reports and technical documentation.
  • Review and evaluate manufacturing, testing and installation procedures and quality records for compliance to Chevron standards and industry specifications.
  • Participate in and support teams for hazard identification, HSE evaluations, equipment cost estimating, manufacturing process verification audits and engineering design and assurance reviews.
  • Interface and collaborate with other Chevron Technical Center (CTC) functions including subsea power & controls, subsea pipelines, materials & welding, quality as well as business unit operations and projects teams.
  • Work as a contributor in part of a larger team and independently. Establish own priorities and schedules to meet the needs of the broader team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across Chevron, suppliers and industry peers.

Required Qualifications:
  • M.S. (or equivalent) in mechanical or subsea engineering
  • Working knowledge of industry standards for the design, testing, and application of subsea hardware including, but not limited to, trees, valves, connectors, manifolds and wellheads.
  • Ability to obtain medical and security clearances to travel internationally to offshore Company facilities and work on contractor offshore vessels

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10yrs relevant industry experience in the design, engineering, manufacture and operation of subsea hardware and associated equipment
  • Direct experience in the design and manufacture of subsea hardware
  • Offshore operations and project execution experience
  • Subsea controls experience in design, development, operation and diagnostics
  • Experience leading technical, multi-discipline project teams

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
