Job Purpose
Supervises, on shift, the operation of the units in the assigned section to ensure that plant throughput and products meet Company requirements and specifications in the most economical and safe manner within the designated area and control. Coordinates periodic checks, adjustments and maintains follow up on all maintenance activities in his respective operation area.
Job Specific Accountabilities
Work Performed:
• Takes over shift from off going shift supervisor with details of any operational irregularities or changes during previous shift. Reviews operating data, monitors general operational or maintenance activities in the various sections, and establishes status at the start of shift. Hands over job and completed own logbook in an orderly and efficient manner to incoming Shift Supervisor at the end of his shift.
• Instructs and guides shift crew for achieving target throughput following best operating practices and procedures.
• Makes detailed inspection of all units to ensure operating instructions and procedures are correctly and conscientiously complied with, equipment's are correctly operated and maintained in a safe and efficient manner and a good standard of housekeeping is enforced in the units.
• Initiates actions to improve yield and/or to check & rectify off specifications results. Monitors consumption of chemicals, catalysts, lubricants and consumables used to ensure economic usage.
• Checks and updates status of all maintenance work in progress within the section to ensure maximum availability of critical as well as standby equipment's. Produces and issues unavailable equipment list on daily basis to the Maintenance coordinator and Section Head.
• Issues all types of permits with respect to work nature based on PTW guidelines. Same way closes all the permits after completion of the job.
• Personally controls and coordinates shutdown and start-up operations, including reviewing control panel instruments and directing site operations to start up units in proper sequence and at correct manner to avoid damage to equipment or personnel.
• Reviews laboratory test results to ensure that products meet specifications and arranges for adjustments to be carried out to maintain quality standards. Reviews and monitors in his shift the operating data relating to the production and operation of various operating equipment. Includes discussing activities with subordinates and highlighting anomalies for corrective action to be taken.
• Attends the departmental safety, health and good housekeeping meetings. Participates in plant inspection tours, and takes active participation in implementing company policies of safety, health and loss prevention and quality management.
• Reviews and analyses outside log sheet readings at regular intervals with control room instrumentation to make sure they correlate. Verifies correct operations of rotary and stationary plant equipment. Raises and endorses relevant work requests through Maximo as required.

• Communicates regularly with shift control/Section Head and other operating unit supervisors for any unit upset or off spec product re-routing. On shift basis, the incumbent must receive and provide information to Section Head or Shift Controller on operation, maintenance and HSE related items.
• Prioritises and directs maintenance activities outside normal working hours. Discusses with Maintenance Coordinator and plans the job on priority basis. Verifies and endorses operators/senior operators work requests and routes to Section Head for approval.
• Updates periodically shutdown items and plans to attend short or long shutdown period. Regularly follows up subordinate's performance and updates to Section Head. Follows routine checklist and countersigns after completion and maintains proper documentation.
Minimum Qualification
Diploma in Operations or Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
• 5 years' experience in plant operations in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
Skills:
• High level of relevant technical knowledge and application.
• Good knowledge in DCS.
• Must have good computer skills- MS Office, MAXIMO.
• Very good oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is preferable
