As Lead DBA of Database Management organization at Honeywell Advanced Materials, you will have the opportunity to lead and work with a large footprint of various database technologies and make a difference by establishing a solid foundation for innovation, performance, reliability, and scalability working on on-prem and public cloud solutions leveraging multiple database technologies.

You will lead the Oracle & MS SQL Server database development, architecture, and operations responsible for setting the database strategy and delivering a scalable and reliable data platform that supports Honeywell Advanced Materials Digital Platform and Applications. Additionally, you will participate and provide your guidance for the design and implementation of databases in global high-availability and high-performance environments. You will be responsible for maintaining the database models across all applications, designing new solutions at the cutting edge of distributed database technology, and delivering large-scale systems that will have an impact on revenue growth.

You will report directly to our Sr. Director Data & Architecture and you will work out of our Morris Plains, Houston, or Charlotte locations on a hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will enable data-driven decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, and fortify data integrity. Your contributions will empower our teams to innovate, scale, and achieve their goals while maintaining the highest standards of data security and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead adoption of strategic platforms for database Oracle & MS SQL Server - on-premise and Cloud Infrastructure in addition to other database technologies.
• Collaborate on Database Automation activities to improve process efficiency and risk compliance
• Drive Stability initiatives by proactively reviewing and addressing Database performance and capacity trends
• Mentor and guide DBAs with varying experience levels
• Stay focused, aggressive, active, lead by example, coordinate and guide the leadership team, and provide value as a strong team player.
• Lead and manage High Availability database solutions for critical applications with monitoring and auditing tools and processes.
• Define and manage processes to maintain and optimize database assets with lifecycle management ( plan, build, run).
• Effective governance of our third-party vendor both onshore and offshore
• Guide Operational Database Support teams to troubleshoot and investigate business-impacting performance issues on an as-needed basis.
• Create and maintain processes and documentation for various database activities, including architecture, user access, user termination, DB creation, DB migration, DB security, Service Now knowledge etc.,
• Contribute to the formulation of strategies for infrastructure technologies functional areas across various business sectors
• Define and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, evaluate controls to help mitigate negative outcomes through prevention, detection and correction - SOX/PCI/GDPR/Export compliance etc... and ensure risk and control oversight.
• Lead and engage in cross-platform training & in bits and bytes sessions on technology trends, create opportunities for career growth, and train the resources across various technologies

In October, 2024 Honeywell announced the spin-off of our Advanced Materials business to become a stand-alone publicly traded company, independent of Honeywell. Our intention is that this role, dedicated to the Advanced Materials business, will be a part of this future transaction when the separation occurs.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 8+ years hands-on experience with ORACLE and/or MS SQL Server DBs, to include:
    • Proven ability to develop architecture and provide design oversight that incorporates high availability, operations supportability, and scalability to a high volume, rapidly growing world world-class business
    • Solid experience in Database Tuning
    • Hands-on experience with Database Platform including Governance, Integration, Security, and Operations
    • Experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and production support
    • Experience in transforming to and from on-premise environment to cloud technology
    • Experience with data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery options, configuration and execution
  • 5+ years of experience with Replication tools like Oracle Golden Gate, Attunity, HVR etc.,
  • 3+ years of solid hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of database technology in Azure and AWS.
