RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Surveyor - Genoa to join its office in Genoa within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

Mission

A surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets.The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards. #LI-MC1

Key Accountabilities

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure strict adherence to classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements during surveys and inspections. Stay updated on new regulations to maintain compliance.
  • Technical Expertise:
    Provide expert technical advice on classification, design, construction, and maintenance to clients. Keep abreast of industry advancements to apply cutting-edge knowledge in surveys.
  • Problem-Solving:
    Act as a troubleshooter, addressing technical challenges during surveys or client interactions.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Implement quality measures in survey processes to maintain accuracy and reliability in inspection reports.
  • Client Education:
    Educate clients on classification processes, rules, and compliance importance for safety and efficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Use standardized templates for inspection reports, integrating digital tools for efficient documentation management.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    Collaborate with colleagues internally and externally, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Continuous Professional Development:
    Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry standards and pursue relevant certifications to enhance expertise.
  • Ethical Conduct:
    Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.

Education

Master's Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Junior Surveyor or 5 years in engineering/survey fields in the marine industry or relevant specialization.
  • Proficiency in English language relevant to classification and statutory certification scope.
  • Ability to develop working knowledge of RINA Rules, statutory regulations, and Employee Safety Policy.
  • Understanding of engineering plans, shipbuilding practices, and ship operations.
  • Proficiency in performing new building surveys, ship in service surveys, marine management systems audits, and testing activities.
  • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems, relevant computer programs, and technical interfaces for group projects.
