Residential HVAC Estimating Team Lead

IES Residential is seeking a highly motivated and experienced HVAC Estimating Team Lead to oversee the daily activities of our estimating team. This individual will play a crucial role in managing the bid process, ensuring accuracy in cost estimates, and prioritizing project deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential HVAC estimating, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and excellent mathematical and organizational skills. This is a full-time position based in our Sugar Land, TX office.
Job Responsibilities:
• Oversee and guide the estimating team in reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, and preparing project proposals.
• Assess bid requests, prioritize workload, and delegate tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
• Maintain and refine bid tracking processes, ensuring efficient workflow management.
• Compile and review all costs, including materials, labor, fees, profit, and overhead, before final bid submission.
• Conduct quality control reviews of estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Train and mentor junior estimators, fostering skill development and industry knowledge.
• Collaborate with Division Managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scopes and expectations.
• Maintain and update estimating software templates, material costs, and historical pricing data.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.

• High School Diploma required; a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC estimating, preferably in residential new construction.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, materials, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and data analysis.
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software (Accubid Anywhere or similar preferred).
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to assess, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret project plans, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
• Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of algebra, geometry, and calculations related to material quantities and costs.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to team members, Division Managers, and clients.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and process improvement.
• Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role within an estimating department.
• Familiarity with residential construction project management.
• Understanding of HVAC codes and compliance regulations.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
