The Senior Power Systems Engineer works with other engineers, DVL Sales, Program Management as well as chosen contractors, engineers, equipment manufacturers and with the end user customer. It includes using significant experience in being responsible for the whole Engineering project from conception to completion

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
  • Uses expert understanding of PLC programming for reliable and redundant (as required) open & closed transfer operations and utility connected generator paralleling programming. Is a Company "expert" on these complex types of projects.
  • Uses proven proficiency in GE PLC & software products applicable to DVL designs and levels of service.
  • Uses proven expert understanding of PLC programming for reliable and redundant (as required) open & closed transfer operations and isolated bus generator paralleling programming.
  • Uses proven proficiency in the selection, application & set up of Schweitzer control & protective products as well as other Manufacturer's protective & multifunction relays.
  • Provides budgets/estimates to sales in a timely manner. Works with sales to provide technical guidance, help in specification generation.
  • Uses proven high level of understanding in basic & advanced control circuitry and the maintenance & troubleshooting of these circuits.
  • Uses proven proficiency with Auto Cad and Promise.
  • Maintains and updates knowledge to properly operate all Vertiv/Liebert present and discontinued larger single phase and three phase UPS equipment.
  • Works in a safe manner, knowledgeable of and follows industry standard safety practices including Knowledge of OSHA, UL508A and NFPA 70E guidelines & requirements.
  • Safely, efficiently & properly perform load bank tests (UPSs, Generators, etc.) and other general and simpler corrective maintenance procedures related to basic switchgear & ATSs.
  • Uses proven proficiency in the use of the power quality meters, thermoscan cameras and their report writing software. Prepare accurate and professional looking reports of tested or maintained equipment.
  • Uses proven proficiency in accurately constructing control panels, field wiring modifications, changes, etc. The wiring work performed is neat, looks like quality and resembles high quality OEM construction. Provides timely documentation as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY
  • 5+ years' full-time permanent working power systems experience relating to the responsibilities of the job. This experience can be with a major Switchgear Manufacturer or Assembler, Controls Shop, Generator Dealer or Distributor, PLC or Controls Manufacturer or Control Systems provider.
  • Some college required: BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or an Engineering related degree like Electrical Power Engineering preferred.
  • AutoCAD and/or Promise E (or similar) experience for preparation of electrical single lines, schematics, elevations, floor plans, various control systems, mechanical piping systems, etc.
  • Understanding of and experience with electrical generation, distribution, conditioning & control systems as well as the control devices commonly utilized with them.
  • Understanding of and experience with the National Electric Code.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, UL508A & OSHA electrical safety regulations.
  • A solid command of the Microsoft office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • A good understanding of the Construction Design-Bid Build & Design-Build processes.
  • Experience with General Electric and/or Allen Bradley PLC systems and their software.
  • Experience with Woodward Control devices.
  • Experience with SEL, GE, Schneider, Basler protection & Control products.
  • Experience with SCADA systems application & deployment.
  • Valid driver's license to drive to customer sites.

The salary pay range is $135,000 - $175,000/year plus car allowance and bonus based on relevant power systems service experience.
