Through its merger with Oil Search, Santos has acquired and assumed operatorship over a world-class portfolio of oil leases on the Alaskan North Slope, USA.
Our focus in Alaska is advancement of our Pikka Phase 1 project, which includes a single drill site, an oil processing facility, and other infrastructure to support production of 80,000 barrels of oil per day.
Pikka has been identified as being among the top quartile of oil and gas development projects for greenhouse gas emissions performance. Pikka is poised to play an important role in the energy transition and is aligned with our company goal of managing climate change risk. The project is on track to be ready for a final investment decision by mid-year 2022.
The Pikka Unit is one of the largest conventional oil discoveries made in the United States in the last 30 years, and the Pikka Phase 1 Project is the most significant development on Alaska's North Slope in more than 20 years.
The permitted Pikka development project includes two additional drill sites. The Alaska assets also include discoveries made from both the Mitquq and Stirrup exploration wells drilled in 2020. These opportunities combine to offer a clear path to long-term growth in Alaska.
Position Purpose
The Technical Assistant of Drilling and Completions is responsible for providing technical, regulatory and business support to the Drilling and Completions team during the design, engineering and execution of all Drilling & Completions activities. They will gather, compile, organize and perform initial analysis of pertinent technical and financial Drilling & Completions data. Ensure the data set, appropriate benchmarking and reporting is complete, accurate and timely. This position will also ensure all correspondence associated with State and Federal drilling permits are accurate, complete and submitted in an appropriate time. During times of rig activity, the Tech Assistant will track operations and ensure activity is accurately captured.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Structure and maintain operational and cost data/reports for drilling, completions, well services, and logistics within the Drilling Data Management System (WellView). Work closely with Field Staff to ensure accuracy of operational and cost data within WellView. Collaborate with the D&C Cost Specialist to ensure estimated and actual costs are aligned.
- Ensure all regulatory permitting applications are accurate, complete, and submitted timely.
- Collaborate with other OSA departments compiling data for the Drilling Data Management System (WellView) and all data management integration requirements including End of Well Reports.
- Maintain and develop departmental drilling schedules for all areas of operation.
- Maintain electronic filing structures for the Drilling, Completions and Well Services Departments.
- SharePoint Administrator - manage permissions and provide support for the D&C platform.
- Interface when required with external stakeholders including State and Federal bodies
- Assist with preparing monthly drilling input for Partners operations report.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required
Formal Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate field
Experience
- 2-5 years of related work experience preferred
- Basic understanding of drilling and completions
- Prior experience working with drilling permits, data and drilling software
- Ability to work independently, but with a strong team, collaborative focus
- High level problem solving skills and pro-active attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for this role
- A high degree of proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
