Job Description
The Department of Environmental Quality is looking to fill the Oil and Gas Compliance Inspector as an Environmental Scientist III position in the Division of Air Quality. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on experience and the job level offered within the series.
Job Description
  • Conducting oil field inspections/audits and determining compliance with environmental regulations
  • Ability to understand and evaluate state and federal air quality regulations
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external stake holders.
  • Work both independently and in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

The best qualified candidate will have the following:
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations; conduct accurate compliance inspections, document findings and identify and address compliance issues.
  • Technical Communication (Written): Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate technical reports and written communications.
  • Interpersonal Communication (Verbal): Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders (industry, government, public).
  • Environmental Rulemaking and Permitting: Knowledge of environmental rulemaking and permit development processes.
  • Independence and Travel: Ability to work independently and travel to remote locations within the State of Utah.
  • Geographic Location: Ability to reside in or near the Uintah Basin.

Preferences

Three years' experience directly related to the above tasks.

Job Series

The selected candidate for this position may be brought in as an Environmental Scientist I with a salary range of $24.65 - $37.02, an Environmental Scientist II with a salary range of $29.00 - $43.57 per hour, or an Environmental Scientist III with a salary range of $34.13 - $51.28 per hour.
