NES Fircroft are looking for a Senior Planner to work Full Time REMOTELY to join an exciting CCS Project based in Switzerland.

SUMMARY OF THE JOB

The Planning Engineer CCUS will generate a planning overview of the CCUS projects portfolio and the key activities of the projects in their respective project phase. The schedules shall be logically linked to key decisions and milestones. The schedule will cover the identification of a project through to the final handover to operations. The portfolio overview as well as the individual project schedules will provide a realistic outlook on the individual project development and execution.
The Planning Engineer CCUS will liaise with the individual CCUS projects and Carbon Management team and will enforce a consistent approach to planning and planning assumptions for CCUS projects.
The Planning Engineer CCUS will liaise with the individual project teams to track progress against plan and will intervene and escalate in case of deviations.
The Planning Engineer CCUS will contribute to a monthly report on the status of the CCUS project portfolio.

In the project identification, concept select, and in definition and planning phases the focus is on preparing information to support the Business Case with a realistic plan to completion to obtain project approval. During the definition phase (FEED) a full execution schedule will be developed and tracked to ensure successful and timely execution of the project. This shall include the timing of commitments, necessary float, sequencing, etc. In the project execution and commissioning phases till hand-over, the focus is on progress control, mitigation and recovery, and  time to first commercial operation. The Planning Engineer will develop a minimum standard for planning and scheduling and implement this across the portfolio of projects.
 
 MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 

For each project he/she is involved in, he/she shall:
  • Establish the project master and detailed time schedule,
  • Anticipate, identify and report any risk of delay and contribute in solutions to manage and mitigate deviations and risks, report to his management in case of deviation,
  • Check and alert on adequacy and sufficient resources to meet deadlines, report to  management in case of variation,
  • Execute expediting to secure timely delivery of engineering, materials and equipment purchased to suppliers,
  • Organize or produce an efficient project planning reporting for each project in line with PM&E standards,
  • Anticipate, identify and report any risk of time overruns and contribute in solutions to manage and mitigate them, report to his management in case of drift,
  • Support the Project Manager and the Service & Equipment/Subcontracting Purchasing and Contracting Engineers on contract administration, in particular when variations are raised by contractors with respect to schedule/delays.
  • Contribute to PM&E monthly reporting and to PM&E database.
  • Ensures Health & Safety values, safety and security policies and standards are integrated into planning, including safety in design, safety in construction, etc.
  • Contributes to change culture in project health and safety
  • Assures that group policies, standards, procedures are implemented and followed in line with the investment approval process.
    The Planning Engineer supports the Project Manager and on demand to the Project Financial Controller by providing necessary inputs/reports on scheduling, progress control, allowing them to exercise their responsibilities on project execution and financial reporting to the Group.
SCHEDULING & PROGRESS CONTROL:
  • Elaborate project completion lead times for the selected purchasing strategies (EPC, EP C, E P C, EPCM, multiple packages),
  • Structure the investment master time schedule and physical progress measurement according to the project strategy, defined with/by the Project Manager,
  • Contribute to definition and management of interfaces between each contracted work packages to cope with master planning,
  • Identify and analyze critical paths,
  • Plan and implement the quality assurance program covering all project phases and key milestones of the project in line with the project requirements,
  • Lead implementation of PPMS which will be the basis for progress measurement and for progress invoicing of the works,
  • Select, train and manage the local project planner and the contractors planners to deliver monthly the relevant information (updated time schedule and progress from PPMS),
  • Strongly interact and challenge local project teams, contractors work progress assessment, productivity ratio, constructability and progress forecasts….
  • Consolidate, if not done locally, and analyze the project status into a Master Time Schedule, issue a synthesis of the project progress every month (S curves by disciplines) with a comparison to initial planning and propose solutions to reduce the project duration and/or recovery plan in case of drift.
  • Execute expediting in case of critical path supplies, tight quality tolerance, unreliable supplier monitoring of manufacturing steps, upon alert or upon site team requests.

SUPPORT TO CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION
  • Prepare contractual attachments relating to project organization, e-communication procedure, contractors, progress reporting and change order management,
  • Report on recovery plan (if needed),
  • Participate to the definition of the contractual dates and to the terms of payments with the Project Manager, the Service & Equipment/Subcontracting Purchasing & Contracting Engineers,
  • Analyze contractor time schedule and progress every month, reports on trends and propose mitigation plan,
  • Validate, with the Project Manager, the contractor payment applications before invoicing,
  • To support the Project Manager and Contracts manager in planning matters: company obligations, variation orders, claims and counterclaims.

  • CAPEX 2 Bln up to 2030
  • 5 MTPA CO2 abated

PROFILE REQUIRED

Level of Education/Qualifications normally required:
  • Engineering Bachelor or Master Degree with engineering/construction background.
Specific Work Experience:
  • At least 10 years experience as a planner
  • Large project (200 CHF million) and portfolio planning expertise in process facilities projects
  • EPC contractor and or owner experience covering inception to commissioning phase project experience
  • Construction planning experience: methodology and time to complete, construction/erection planning
  • Commissioning planning experience: Methodology, cold/hot commissioning, check sheets A/B
Technical / Functional Skills:
  • Planning and schedule optimization across all phases of project development and execution
  • Planning and follow-up of procurement and contracting for preparedness and timely commitments
  • Site construction / erection mastery in countries with different level of development,
  • Project scheduling,
  • IT tools: Excel, MS project, Primavera

Behavioural Competencies: 
  • Honest, transparency in deliverables,
  • Rigorous, methodical,
  • Organized to ensure traceability

Leadership and managerial abilities:
  • Ability to manage heavy workload,
  • Proven experience in management of priorities,
  • Autonomy while conducting audits and site assessment in remote/adverse conditions,
  • Cooperating spirit with PM&E/Project/Country teams, but challenging them.

Language skills:
  • Any language widely spoken in the Group
  • Good professional communication in English.

Mobility requirements 
  • Frequent short travel worldwide in all areas where the Group is active. Open to travel to areas that could have adverse living conditions, limited infrastructure and accessibility.
