Field Safety Specialist - Wind Industry

At a minimum to apply you will need:
- Travel (by truck and/or plane) to wind farms around North America 80%+ of the time (road warrior) to ensure safety policies and protocols are enforced in the field.
- Will work in the field in various weather conditions, from extreme cold to extreme heat, and in remote locations.
- Drive a field safety culture to achieve zero-incidents.
- Serve as the field safety lead on assigned wind project sites, ensuring full compliance with company policies, OSHA, and applicable provincial regulations (if in Canada).
- Conduct daily site safety audits, observations, and walkthroughs to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices.
- Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Support Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lift Plans, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, and other critical safety procedures.
- Coach and mentor field personnel on safety expectations, behaviors, and best practices.
- Deliver on-site safety orientations and toolbox talks.
- Ensure proper use, inspection, and documentation of PPE, fall protection, and safety-related equipment.
- Assist with safety documentation, including SDS management, permits, safety logs, and daily reports.
- Act as a liaison between field crews, company management and customer EHS representatives on all health & safety matters.
- Provide real-time support and direction in high-risk activities such as climbing, lifts, energization, and suspended platform work.
- Collaborate with Training, Operations, and Fleet teams to ensure safety integration across all aspects of field work.
At a minimum to apply you will need:
- Prefer Texas or Oklahoma residency
- 3-5 years of experience in Safety, ideally in wind energy or heavy industrial fieldwork.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 (Construction), OSHA 1910 (General Industry), ANSI, NFPA 70E; prefer knowledge of and Canadian OHS regulations.
- Prefer certifications in GWO Basic Safety Training and GWO Advanced Rescue Training (or will be trained)
- Experience with fall protection, LOTO, rigging, suspended work, and electrical safety.
- Professional safety certification (CHST, GWO, OSHA 30, or ASP) preferred.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including climbing turbines up to 400 feet (must be under 285 lbs for compliance with climbing gear).
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, email, and digital safety platforms (e.g., Enablon, Monday.com).
- Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Passport
- Must be able to travel continuously and on short notice
- Experience or knowledge of "Five Whys" Root Cause Analysis or similar processes
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
