Job Description

IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for a Power Plant Operations and Maintenance Supervisor. The Salary Range is $130k - $150k (negotiable based on experience). Rockaway Peakers is a natural gas Power Plant located in Far Rockaway, New York, 11691 (Bayswater).

Job Summary

The O&M Supervisor is primarily responsible for supporting the Plant Manager and supervising the O&M Technicians. The O&M Supervisor's responsibilities will be directing and supervising maintenance and operations activities, planning/executing mechanical & electrical maintenance and associated repair tasks at Far Rockaway. The O&M Supervisor will assist in ensuring the facility remains compliant with all regulating entities, administrative tasks associated with keeping the facility operational and maintenance planning/parts procurement. Furthermore, the O&M Supervisor will backup the Plant Manager for periodic relief.

To succeed in this role the position requires a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude to help troubleshoot the necessary equipment related to electrical generation, industrial controls and other common industrial equipment.

Job Functions

• Ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures and foster a safe work culture.
• Assist with Safety, Operations, NERC Compliance, Maintenance, Training, and Environmental QA/QC programs to assure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility.
• Supervise and work with the site Operations and Maintenance Technicians to assist them in troubleshooting as necessary.
• Maintenance and outage planning including work package development, procurement, and scheduling
• Acts as station management in the absence of the plant manager.
• Perform tasks assigned for continuity or restoration of service in an emergency.
• Oversee and assist with the warehouse to include ordering, shipping, and receiving parts.
• Develops operating reports, generation output data, fuel usage or other daily transactions.
• Tracking and monitoring of the overall plant performance including heat rate testing and tracking.
• Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records.
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience - an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

• High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience.

• Industrial Maintenance background.

• Service in any military branch within maintenance related to fields and leadership responsibility (E-5 and above) are highly encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be computer literate, being able to demonstrate the utilization of Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, electronic timesheets, electronic logs and other similar systems to include a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

• Good verbal/written communication skills: speaking, reading and writing clearly and professionally in English.

• Must possess basic math skills.
• Proficient with the use of power, precision and hand tools.
• Must be cooperative and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Will understand hazards and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
• Work as a team.

Work Environment - environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this position.

• Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
• Schedule: M-F (occasional after hours and weekends as necessary).
• On-call status (day and night) may be required.
• Includes working indoors and outdoors.
