About You:

We are seeking someone who is reliable, eager to learn, enthusiastic and able to work independently and in a small team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Required skills and experience:
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to effectively manage time.
  • Keen self-starter, motivated to upskill and improve own knowledge base.
  • Skilled in the management and analysis of data, able to highlight anomalies and outliers.
  • Knowledge of relevant laboratory operations/standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards
  • Strong team player and collaborate approach
  • Experience of working under pressure whilst remaining professional
  • Educated to ONC level in a science subject
  • Previous experience within Oil & Gas sector preferred


About the role:

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be required to carry out preparation, testing and reporting of submitted samples by set methodology, as directed by senior personnel. This will include the use of basic and advanced instrumentation and the application of analytical techniques.

Key activities:
  • Ensuring compliance with local systems, rules and procedures including relevant industry standards (ISO 9001/17025/14001/OHSAS 18001etc.) set by the Company and/or external certification bodies.
  • Ensuring work conducted follows the agreed procedures as set out in the local Management system.
  • Assist in the maintenance, servicing and calibration of equipment in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Carry out testing in accordance with documented standards and test methods.
  • Maintaining accurate records of testing and sample observations and calculations.
  • Producing reports for samples tested and input of sample results into the computer system.
  • Assist with audits in accordance with external accreditation and internal standards as and when instructed to do so, whilst ensuring compliance is maintained.
  • Investigate abnormal results to confirm or correct the situation, and if necessary, alert the appropriate staff.
