Position Summary
This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.
We are seeking a highly motivated, capable individual with excellent safety and customer focus skills, as well as mechanical skills, for our Utility Gas Service Representative (UGSR) position. UGSRs respond to gas emergencies and provide safety check and adjustment service on customer-owned gas appliances.
The work environment may include working in confined spaces. Shift work, weekends and overtime may be required. This position is subject to union dues.
This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate range for this position is $34.53 to $50.80, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
Job Responsibilities
Describe the safety and health procedures in ensuring a safe work environment at PG&E.
Apply PG&E's policies to maintain customer relations.
Describe the gas meter set, its components, and its operation.
Build and install a gas meter set for new business.
Maintain valves, regulators and gas meter sets.
Conduct clock testing at gas meter sets.
Change a gas meter set, using the quick-change apparatus, and without interrupting gas service.
Describe actions to discontinue gas service.
Respond to immediate response to make safe and major gas events.
Use the iPad and PG&E forms to complete daily work.
Program, install, and troubleshoot SmartMeter gas modules and establish electric service.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
Must possess a valid California Driver's License
Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays
Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Ability to work shift schedule
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in construction, plumbing, law enforcement, or basic electrical skills
Graduate from the Bridge to Utility Worker Power Pathway Program
Current or previous PG&E employee
Current or previous Hiring Hall employee
Pre-Employment Testing
