This position reports to
R&D Manager
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you'll guide a team of skilled software engineers working on the firmware of our ABB Drives. You'll create a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence, while ensuring our software solutions remain innovative, robust, and scalable. This role will be located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. You will be mainly accountable for: • Leading one of our Drives R&D software development teams. • Coaching and cultivating a motivated, high-performing team. • Driving AI integration to transform software development. • Contributing to product development and strategic planning for future innovations. • Encouraging cooperation with partners and consumers to maintain alignment and obtain meaningful insights. • Participating in budgeting, resource planning, competence strategy, and recruitment. • Ensuring a healthy, safe, and positive workplace. • Building and maintaining partnerships with universities and research centers.

Qualifications for the role
- Master's or Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proficiency in English is essential, Finnish is a plus.
- Skilled in networking, leadership, and critical analysis; experienced with talent management and career planning; interested in helping individuals and appreciating broader contexts.
- Experience with embedded systems, including software engineering or electronics projects.
- Determined and keen on understanding the latest technological developments.
- Familiarity with Drives and power electronics products/business is advantageous.
- Knowledge of IEC 62443, code signing, and security testing is beneficial.
