Job Title: HVAC - Preventative Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Executive Director of Facilities

Primary Purpose:

To perform preventative maintenance (PM) within the mechanical department on equipment district wide to a condition of operating excellence for full educational use of it at all times.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Valid Texas driver's license (Meet eligibility requirements to drive a district vehicle)
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  • Ability to estimate materials
  • Knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair procedures
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience in commercial or educational heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance.

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. Perform the preventive maintenance (PM) duties necessary to construct and maintain in good repair building heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems as required.
  2. Be flexible in handling a variety of repairs within the Mechanical Department.
  3. Be able to use a variety of hand/power tools and measuring instruments.
  4. Make standard shop computations related to dimensions of work and amount of materials needed for each project.
  5. Select the proper materials and equipment necessary for the task.
  6. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair basic kitchen equipment as directed.
  7. Install and/or assist with the installation of HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, and other mechanical related duties as required.
  8. Inspect interior/exterior building plumbing systems including domestic and wastewater systems.
  9. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair irrigation system components as required.
  1. Operate equipment and tools in a safe manner, following all safety procedures to create a safe work environment.
  2. Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to your immediate supervisor or the Executive Director of Facilities.
  3. Respond to emergency calls after hours, weekends, or holidays as required.
  4. Perform all other duties and/or tasks assigned by your immediate supervisor or the Executive Director of Facilities.
