Job Purpose
The Mechanical Commissioning Lead is responsible for providing oversight, direction, and support to Mechanical Commissioning activities across multiple EPC contractors and vendors. This role ensures quality, compliance, and schedule alignment with the approved project execution plan. The scope includes the commissioning of new infrastructure such as jackets, topsides decks, pipelines, cables, and riser modifications across numerous offshore platforms. The role requires strong coordination with Facilities Teams, EPC engineers, and Operations personnel.
Key Job Accountabilities

EPC Coordination

Coordinate activities of EPC contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of mechanical systems in accordance with project schedule and budget.

Tendering and Package Development

Support tendering processes and develop EPC Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages for the Mechanical discipline on future projects.

Documentation Review and Workshop Support

Review technical documents and attend project workshops/meetings to ensure mechanical deliverables meet quality and scheduling expectations.

Technical Attachment Analysis

Analyze purchase orders and scope descriptions for mechanical content to verify alignment with contract requirements.

Stakeholder Liaison

Maintain effective communication with NFPS Mechanical Leads, QE OPCO, Facilities Team, and Head of Facilities to align on mechanical system engineering needs and objectives.

Lessons Learned Implementation

Capture and share lessons learned from previous projects, focusing on mechanical system design and commissioning.

Contractor Capability Assessment

Evaluate EPC contractor capabilities and ensure necessary technical support is provided to address any skill or resource gaps.

Schedule Stewardship

Manage and track mechanical engineering schedules and milestones, such as Long Lead Item (LLI) procurement and engineered equipment delivery. Develop recovery plans for any schedule deviations.

Contract Compliance Verification

Ensure contractors provide all required mechanical system documentation, as specified in project contracts.

Progress Measurement and Control

Oversee the progress measurement and control systems for mechanical scope, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.

Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering.
Knowledge and/or Experience
-
Minimum of 8 years of experience in large-scale commissioning projects within the Oil & Gas industry.

At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or vendor oversight capacity.
Technical and Business Skills

Strong background with Oil & Gas companies, EPC contractors, or service providers.

Expertise in reading P&IDs, datasheets, GA drawings, and technical procedures.

Deep knowledge of project execution, engineering, operations, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and systems completion.

Understanding of compliance with technical specifications, codes, and standards.

Experience with major LNG vendors and equipment, including compressors, power generation, and topsides systems.

Proven ability to work within large, complex organizational environments across operations and project domains.
