Job Purpose: We are delighted to present this fantastic opportunity for an Information Management Project Lead to join our business centred team who provide information and knowledge management solutions and support across Applied Sciences & Technology and beyond.
The Applied Sciences & Technology Knowledge Management team is responsible for driving forward the strategy and delivery of knowledge (KM) and information management (IM) for Applied Sciences & Technology (AST). We are the owners of good practice and governance together with systems which provide a foundation of improved learning and corporate knowledge. Our understanding of the business allows us to grow a culture of fit for purpose learning and support to our teams, to drive efficiency and empower our customers.
Reporting into the Manager, Applied Sciences & technology Laboratory Data Systems & Knowledge Managment, the Information Management Project Lead will be based at the bp Technology Centre in Bengaluru. This team is responsible for providing Knowledge Management and Information Management expertise and services in support of research, product development, deployment and operational excellence to underpin bp's efforts to create innovative scientific solutions to turn bp's ambitions into reality. Key collaborators will be: the team's Knowledge Management Senior Project
Lead who will work with you and users to understand their requirements in terms of high-value knowledge collections, people profiles; and bp's Digital (IT) team who set IT and security strategies and own and support the fundamental tool set, eg SharePoint.
The Information Management Project Lead will drive the development and implementation of efficient, structured, and compliant information management practices across AST. This role encompasses governance, taxonomy development, metadata management, and information architecture, ensuring that information assets are accessible, well-structured, and aligned with business needs. Additionally, the Information Management Project Lead will play a key role in user engagement, training, and adoption of best practices, supporting digital transformation initiatives while embedding robust document control, workflow automation, and lifecycle management processes. Leveraging Microsoft environments, including SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, the role will also explore opportunities to utilize large language models (LLMs), such as Microsoft CoPilot, to enhance administrative efficiency and reduce cost.
Accountabilities:
• Develop and implement an AST-wide information management strategy aligned with business objectives and broader bp IM strategy and standards
• Create a document management environment(s) for effective known-item search and discovery-oriented search
• Establish and maintain governance and guidance to ensure good document lifecycle practice and compliance with IM standards
• Lead training, communication, and change management initiatives to drive adoption of good practice
• Design and maintain effective information architecture to deliver business objectives by providing an excellent user experience.
• The program and project management of work associated with all of the above, drawing on PM experience and methodology. Including financial responsibility for the portfolio.
• Measure the impact of information management initiatives through performance metrics, surveys, and user feedback
What do we want to see from you:
• You will be qualified to a Bachelor's (or higher) degree level in information management, library/information science or the equivalent level of professional experience
• Strong project and program management skills are essential. Delivery of projects to scope, time and budget, and be able to communicate progress, risks and issues to key stakeholders of all levels
• Demonstrated ability where you will have a record of delivering change projects or process improvements via information management
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders groups across different global locations and business and digital disciplines, to embed a culture of effective information management.
• Demonstrated ability in both known-item search and discovery-oriented search, information governance, document control, taxonomy development, metadata management, and content management.
• Strong understanding of enterprise content management, records management, and document control workflows.
