JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary.

Responsible for projects from conceptual design including FEED, detail design, procurement, fabrication, construction and shipment to site.

The Projects department is accountable for the coordination, performance monitoring and improvement, handover requirements, budget, schedule, quality and site safety with primary responsibility for individual projects undertaken by the Package Manager.

The Package Manager will form an integral part of this team and will require a proven experience base in discipline and front-end engineering to ensure maximum value is delivered by the team.

The package manager should give guidance and training to other support roles as required for the successful execution of the project(s) and will be responsible for several projects at any one time as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management Responsibilities - On his/her own initiative perform the following activities:

  • Implement Project Management / Execution Plan as required.
  • Delegate effectively to members of the team and have a thorough grasp of resources required to execute the project effectively.
  • Perform Lessons Learned workshop and implement the necessary mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Ensure that HSEQ Plan and/or Control Plan are established and communicated to the rest of the team
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and take part in Project kick-off meeting,
  • Obtain detailed knowledge of the Contract and its requirements through detailed review of the project specifications.
  • Agree Project Management Team Roles and responsibilities with leadership.
  • Establish, monitor and take corrective actions for the planning and schedule for project execution
  • Ensure that the necessary procedures, guidelines and templates are available for project teams processes and activities
  • Working with the project controller, establish and get approval of Project Baseline Schedule
  • Manage the Project Execution for Technical Delivery and be the focal point for the engineering disciplines.
  • Day-to-day management of the Project Organization and always be updated on the project main status, issues and challenges
  • Act as focal point for interface with Client, Vendors and disciplines for technical documentation and technical communication
  • Ensure that the documents submitted to client are in line with project scope of work and agreed timelines within the contract.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions for Project Procurement with the support of technical documents received from discipline engineers
  • Coordinate Technical Bid Evaluation of offers received from project buyer and ensure the evaluations are returned within stipulated time
  • Organize kick-off meetings with vendors upon the placement of Purchase Orders
  • Prepare and update the Project expediting reports and hold weekly / scheduled meetings with the vendors
  • Coordinate with vendors for timely submission and approvals of technical documents and highlight to Project Manager on time for any delays in document approvals or final delivery
  • Support Project Manager in preparing the weekly and monthly progress reports
  • Demonstrate HSE Leadership by emphasizing personal commitment to HSE and promoting NOV HSE mindset
  • Ensure Stakeholder Communications and Relations
  • Develop the client, vendor and team relationship to ensure good communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Arrange and lead regular Client/Contractor meetings, involve Operations Management as required


General Responsibilities On his/her own initiative perform the following activities:

  • Drive the delivery of greenfield and/or brownfield projects
  • Lead large cross functional teams in the successful execution of highly complex, business critical and challenging projects
  • Ensure project buy-outs are delivered on time and budget during execution phase inclusive of design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning
  • Apply sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments
  • Ensure the project deliverables are meeting the applicable project specifications and requirements as per the contract
  • Follow systems of quality control and checking on all assigned projects
  • Manage contract(s) and work with contractors to resolve issues
  • Manage project contractor(s) design and construction teams and ensure work delivered in line with the contractual requirements
  • Have close hands-on involvement with day-to-day engineering, procurement, construction / fabrication planning and execution
  • Measure and initiate performance improvements for execution of projects
  • Drive continuous improvement in projects


Subordinates, peers and leadership;

  • Work closely with peers to reach the common and shared goals for NOV within area of responsibility
  • Perform management and leadership in accordance with the NOV values being a role model for the company
  • Develop the team by setting clear objectives and giving regular constructive feedback
  • Advise and mentor other members of the project team.
  • Regular reviews are performed for critical milestones with focus on projects issues and milestones achieved and forecasted.
  • Record non-conformances and improvements and implement Project corrective actions as and when required
  • Ensure that clear interfaces are in place towards Subcontractor(s), Suppliers and other parties with respect to Scope of
  • Able to assist leadership with skills and competency reviews of team members.


Change and Risk & Opportunity Management:

  • Ensure integrated Change management in accordance with company procedures, review and approval/rejection of proposed and recommended changes to the Project as required.
  • Ensure that all changes in Scope of Work / Contract are formally approved by the Client


Project Execution:

  • Ensure that the Work is performed:
  • In accordance with the Contract towards the Client
  • In accordance with the Project Execution Strategy
  • In accordance with the Project Schedule
  • Within the Project Budgets
  • With focus on HSE and right Quality
  • Prepare for and present project status to the leadership team in Project review meetings as per NOV review template
  • Ensure that Lessons Learned process is performed, followed and documented.
  • Ensure project Close-Out Report is prepared for handed over to Life Cycle Services Project Leadership
  • Lead and perform leadership of the project in accordance with NOV values
  • Motivate others by giving constructive feedback
  • Develop and stimulate members of the project team to achieve excellent results
  • Act as an inspirational leader for the project team members
  • Develop relations both internally and externally
  • Recommends changes in procedures where improvements are identified.
  • Team oriented with the ability to lead and provide expertise.


Methods of Work

  • Effectively plan and manage area of responsibility taking into account the various business requirements (existing laws, legislation, standards and existing guidelines in the company.
  • Ensure that relevant working methods are followed and kept up to date
  • Ensure that team members perform their jobs in such a way as to reduce environment and health risks
  • Regularly evaluate working methods and conditions thereby minimize the risk for workplace and environmental incidents and thereby minimize the risk for quality issues
  • Ensure that processes you own are; efficient and effective, implemented in compliance with internal and external requirements, defined and documented, known to everybody working in the process, continually measured, evaluated, improved and secured
  • For processes you own; make sure to report process performance based on common KPIs, rise issues and risks that need to be resolved on a higher management level
  • Develop, own and implement strategies.
  • Own the budget for area of responsibility
  • Able to operate with no supervision and conferring with supervisor on unusual matters only.


BEHAVIORAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited university or equivalent technical degree or relevant experience
  • Experience in similar position in EPC Projects in Oil & Gas sector
  • Conceptual technical knowledge of separation and treatment technology of Oil & Gas projects.
  • Expertise in managing Oil & Gas Projects
  • Good knowledge of Fabrication/Manufacturing methods of Skid Packages of Oil & Gas sector.
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and staff members
  • Developing industry contacts and knowledge of the industry
  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity


EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILL-SET REQUIRED:

Essential:

  • Bachelor Engineering Degree or related subject.
  • Minimum 5+ Years' experience in the same / similar role
  • Experience in same / similar position in EPC Projects in Oil & Gas sector or through a sector with similar job requirements.


Desirable:

  • Professional engineer or Project management accreditation through industry recognized body.
  • Experience of packaged process equipment, oil, gas, produced water, solids, etc.
