The Category Analyst will be supporting the Global and Regional Category Managers in all facets of Indirect Procurement including, but not limited to, the development and execution of category sourcing strategies, market research, contracting, supplier coordination and performance management, and category key performance indicators and baseline tracking. This requires a broad range of skills including project management, market and industry knowledge and procurement insight, organizational, analytical and technical, and interpersonal skills.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Work with Global and Regional Commodity Managers to define and drive category sourcing strategies and develop Emerson's annual sourcing pipeline.
  • Perform Market and Supplier Research. Identify relevant external market trends, develop impact assessments, and maintain commodity price tracker to support category strategy where applicable.
  • Work with the Global Sourcing Team to support or manage management of incoming procurement project requests from global or regional category managers based in the world areas (eg Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia), and will lead planning and execution of a procurement projects which will include internal customer engagement and assessment of project requirements, development and execution to project schedules and timelines, coordination and management of requests for quotation (RFQ's) with suppliers, and direct contact and outreach to regional suppliers.
  • Draft contracts using Emerson templates upon request from Category Managers.
  • Create and Maintain contract workspaces, includes managing workflow statuses and supporting amendments.
  • Track and manage category key performance indicators and baseline. Monitor procurement metrics and support category strategy development through data gathering and analysis.
  • Assist with overall supplier performance management. Participate in the preparation for Bi-Annual Business Reviews with Marquee and Preferred suppliers.
  • Participate in and make presentations to Regional and Global teams, business units and project team participants in a variety of calls and meetings in all world areas and time zones.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual ad-hoc reports as requested by the Regional and Global Category Managers.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • At least 6 years relevant work experience in supply chain or procurement.
  • Commodity or category management experience in a procurement role is required
  • Demonstrate competency in working and excelling in a team environment including the ability to interact across all levels of management within the organization.
  • Ability to work on multiple programs and customers is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Ariba or Oracle procurement/sourcing applications.
  • General experience or exposure to business data and/or business intelligence systems used for reporting purposes such as transportation management systems, supply chain or other indirect and information systems (ERP, automated manifesting, compliance documents etc.).
  • Candidate must have strong analytical skills and ability to review and provide interpretive analysis using a variety of data sets and to develop robust analytical models and frameworks used to set or evaluate supplier/category pricing models.
  • Strong project management skills including analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Point, Excel, and Word software, as well as PowerBi.
  • Fluent English is Required.

  • Additional certifications or advanced education will be taken into consideration.
