Job Title: Senior Logistics Manager
Location: Atyrau, Kazakhstan
Job Purpose
The Senior Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and managing inbound and outbound logistics operations across the organization. This includes the strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all logistics functions-ensuring cost efficiency, timely delivery, service excellence, and compliance with internal standards and external regulations. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration and the development of a high-performing logistics team to support business goals and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Operational Oversight
- Develop and implement logistics strategies, processes, and policies to optimize operational and financial performance.
- Plan, manage, and evaluate logistics operations including transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics for logistics functions; monitor and improve them continuously.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with suppliers, 3rd-party logistics providers, transportation companies, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers and service providers to ensure favorable rates and service levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and internal teams to support business goals.
Cost Control & Process Optimization
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and remove inefficiencies in logistics workflows.
- Analyze logistics data and trends to inform decision-making and reduce transport and storage costs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in warehousing, route planning, fleet operations, and inventory management.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with relevant health, safety, environmental, and legal regulations.
- Implement standard operating procedures and control measures to manage logistics risks and ensure business continuity.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Conduct regular training and performance evaluations to align the team with organizational objectives.
Technology & Innovation
- Leverage ERP systems (preferably SAP) and logistics software to improve operational visibility and efficiency.
- Stay updated with logistics technology trends and best practices to maintain a competitive advantage.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certifications:
Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CILT, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
- At least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- GCC regional experience (2 years minimum) is considered a plus.
