Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: Atyrau, Kazakhstan

Job Purpose

The Accounting Manager ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and leads the monthly closing and revenue recognition processes. This role oversees the accounting team, supports the development of efficient accounting procedures, and ensures compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and reporting frameworks. The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in strategic planning, risk management, and financial performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and maintain accounting records in accordance with the organization's chart of accounts, accounting principles, and policies.
• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely across all modules of the ERP system.
• Prepare and review the monthly trial balance and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.

Transaction Review & Internal Controls

• Review and approve vouchers (e.g., BPV, CPV, JV, RV) to ensure correct cost coding and cost center allocation.
• Conduct thorough reviews of accrued expenses, fixed asset depreciation, and vendor reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and support external audits as needed.

Bank & Vendor Reconciliation

• Review monthly bank reconciliations for all current accounts and bank liabilities.
• Ensure timely and accurate vendor reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in coordination with the Accounts Payable team.

Strategic Support & Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring adherence to best practices and professional development.
• Provide strategic financial insights through budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support management in making data-driven decisions by delivering clear and concise financial reports.

   

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:

  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Professional Certification:

  Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is required.

• Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of total working experience.
  • At least 5 years in a relevant accounting leadership role.
  • 2 years of GCC experience is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS), reporting requirements, and industry-specific financial regulations.
• Demonstrated experience in managing month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, and reconciliation activities.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and advanced use of accounting software and Excel.
• Strong analytical skills for financial data interpretation, variance analysis, and trend forecasting.
• Ability to manage cross-functional coordination, stakeholder communications, and performance monitoring.
