Job Title: Chief Accountant

Job Purpose

We are currently seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead and manage accounting operations within a growing organisation. This key role will involve overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and leading the accounting team to deliver accurate financial data. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in financial processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Supervise the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management, including variance analysis and trend analysis, to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and regulatory standards to safeguard assets and maintain financial integrity.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance financial data accuracy and mitigate financial risks.
• Supervise, train, and develop the accounting team, ensuring effective performance and continuous improvement.
• Monitor and manage financial performance, identifying areas for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Strong experience in preparing financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (IFRS), and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience with external audits, tax compliance, and liaising with regulatory bodies.
