Description

The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities - Warehouse Division is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Warehouse and Materials Technician, Senior. This class provides inventory management, distribution, and warehousing functions.
Duties include but are not limited to

  • Managing and maintains inventory supplies. Performs periodic inventories;
  • Assisting customers and City employees in obtaining needed materials and supplies;
  • Performing data entry functions to maintain accurate logs and records. Processes invoices, verifies accuracy against purchase order and supplies received;
  • Soliciting quotes from vendors and orders materials needed;
  • Receiving inventory and moves inventory to desired location. May use a forklift to move inventory;
  • Performing data entry;
  • Conducting inventory control and cross training in procurement functions;
  • Operating forklift for inventory receipt and bin location;
  • Maintaining supplies and cycle counting.

The selected candidate should possess the ability to lift at least 75 lbs and will be part of the on-call schedule, which will require the individual to be available after hours and weekends approximately one week per month.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Considerable knowledge of procurement processes, purchasing processes, and cycle counting; inventory practices; of safety practices; Microsoft Office Suite and Arithmetic. Demonstrated skill maintaining accuracy in data entry; good customer service skills; managing inventory; well organized and good oral and written communication skills. The ability to work with a diverse team; to operate forklifts, fork truck, ladders, hand tools, banding machine, drills, mobile stairs, and power tools; and time management.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Two years of related experience;
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire, as assigned;
  • Forklift certification

PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate's or Technical Degree or specialized training that is equivalent to the satisfactory completion of two years of college education;
  • Experience working with warehouse supplies and materials purchasing;
  • Customer service experience is a plus;
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
