A challenging opportunity is nowavailable for a R&D Scientist/Engineer 2 in the Manufacturing and ProductTechnology (MPT) group of UOP R&D. The MPT group is accountable for thedevelopment of catalyst and adsorbent products from prototype to commercialproduction. MPT also provides technical support to the UOP Integrated SupplyChain. This role is in Chickasaw, AL ata UOP Manufacturing Facility. This person will be responsible for a broad rangeof projects related to catalyst development, production support and scale-up.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct experimental plans to develop new catalyst projects for petrochemicals, sustainable fuels, and traditional refining to improve energy utilization and maximize yield for our worldwide customer base.
- Develop expertise in key manufacturing technologies including but not limited to catalyst support forming, metals impregnation, heat treatment.
- Complete hands-on laboratory and semi-works experiments and indirectly supervise laboratory technicians on carrying out required experimental plans.
- Fundamental understanding of catalyst science and how catalyst properties relate to performance.
- Utilize Modeling tools, six-sigma tools, etc to lead team to quick project completion.
- Interface with other UOP departments including LST Business, Development, Pilot Plants, ISC, Analytical and Advanced Characterization to ensure robust products for our customers
- Engage with regional MPT and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) teams to move development products through manufacturing trial runs to enable handoff for continued commercial production.
- Stay current on patent and open literature as they relate to development programs and key technology areas.
- Evaluate and implement new equipment, work processes, and data management strategies to accelerate catalyst development programs.
- Participate in all departmental safety activities and conduct all work with a high degree of attention to safety.
- Utilize six-sigma tools as necessary to implement project work.

YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
WE VALUE
- Working knowledge of UOP catalyst and adsorbent technology
- Experience in catalysis and/or adsorbent science
- Experience in laboratory operations and running lab scale equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to create and work in a "safety first" culture
- Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for direct customer interaction.
- Ability to work in both independent and team-oriented modes is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Eagerness to get involved in hands-on work
- Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
