Achallenging opportunity is now available for an R&D Tech I in theManufacturing and Product Technology (MPT) group of UOP R&D. The MPT groupis accountable for the development of catalyst and adsorbent products fromprototype to commercial production. MPT also provides technical support to UOPIntegrated Supply Chain. This role islocated at Chickasaw Plant in Alabama.
Inthis role you will be accountable for safely completing experiments andpreparing samples according to provided instructions. A wide variety ofchemistry, math, computer, mechanical, equipment and problem-solving skills arerequired to succeed and progress in this role. Continued learning and skilldevelopment is required to maintain technical abilities equal to the increasingtechnical challenges for researching, developing, and manufacturing catalysts andadsorbents.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining a safe and efficient work area
- Understanding oral and written objectives and experimental procedures and participating in experimental design and planning (including equipment scheduling and analytical requirements)
- Following established procedures
- Recommending changes in procedures and equipment to improve efficiency and data quality (including preparation of Job Safety Analyses, Standard Operating Procedures, and HS&E documentation)
- Performing or scheduling routine and basic maintenance and modification to equipment consistent with skill level
- Procuring, handling, safely disposing of and accounting for experimental materials
- Maintaining agreed upon levels of laboratory supplies and small equipment
- Proposing test procedures, adapted from established procedures, to generate reliable data on a new material or application
- Generating and documenting high quality data and calculations of known reliability
- Observing and communicating any unusual or unexpected results
- Drawing conclusions from the data based on prior experience
- Communicating results in a clear and concise manner using established department procedures
- Providing training for other members of the group
- Providing plant trial support including run coverage, responding to technical issues, communication to plant/development personnel, and documentation of results
- Ability to work occasional call-ins, overtime, and shift work
- At advanced levels, qualifying for a Six Sigma Green Belt

YOU MUST HAVE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or lab experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to lift 35 pounds (single carry)
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to recognize problems with equipment and make minor repairs
- Basic math skills
