We Are Seeking

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated professionals to fill thepositions of Meter Reader I & Meter Reader II in Water.

The Meter Reader I reports to the Water Meter Supervisor. The primary function of the Meter Reader I position includes:
  • Residential or commercial meter reading.
  • Residential or commercial ¾" to 2" - meter change out.
  • Notify customers of all meter change outs.
  • Investigate zero consumption and non-read exception.
  • Meter transceiver unit maintenance and route maintenance.

The Meter Reader II reports to the Water Meter Supervisor. The primary function of the Meter Reader II position include:
  • Meter transceiver unit maintenance and route maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as water leaks and main breaks.
  • Participate in shift rotation every fourth week.
  • Training of new employees.
  • Complete work orders; lock, open or transfer water service.
  • Investigates customer concerns over water pressure, consumption, box maintenance, and other issues involving water meters.

These positions are At-Will and are FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.

Please note, depending on experience and certification/s a candidate may be brought in as a Meter Reader II. The salary range listed in the posting is the minimum of the range for a Meter Reader I and the maximum of the range for a Meter Reader II, the pay range for each position is listed after each position's requirements below. This is a driving position, and a motor vehicle report will be run as part of our pre-employment process.

Candidates for the Meter Reader I must possess the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of experience in plumbing and customer service.
  • Must obtain Grade I Water Distribution ADEQ Certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Must acquire necessary knowledge to promote to Meter Reader 2 within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be able to work overtime and a rotating schedule change.
  • Valid AZ Driver's License.
Pay Range for a Meter Reader I: $19.39 - $27.15 Hourly
Candidates for the Meter Reader II must possess the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid AZ Driver's License.
  • ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution Certification at time of hire or promotion.
  • 1 year of experience in private or public sector directly related to water meter reading, installation, and repair; along with 1 year of direct customer service experience.
  • Shift rotation and overtime is a requirement of this position.
Pay Range of a Meter Reader II: $21.83 - $31.66 Hourly
