We are currently seeking a highly experienced Interior Designer to join our team for a prestigious Metro Rail Project. This project involves the development of world-class stations featuring state-of-the-art architecture and interior design. The role will be responsible for overseeing the design and coordination of tasks that incorporates high quality of design and materials selection. This role requires a good level of knowledge and experience in high-quality interior design, the selection of materials, samples and mock-ups, and coordination with multi-disciplinary engineering.
The Interior Designer will play a critical role in reviewing and approving the interior designs proposed by D&B contractors, ensuring they meet applicable standards and align with client expectations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in interior design, particularly in transportation projects, and will be proficient in using advanced design tools, including Building Information Modeling (BIM). This role requires collaboration with other architects and design professionals within the team.

Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the interior design elements, including the review of the Contractors' material selection, detailing, integration within the overall context, as well as the quality of on-site construction and installation.
- Evaluate and approve interior design submissions of samples, mock-ups, design and shop-drawing information from D&B contractors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
- Discuss and resolve comments on Contractors' designs, ensuring all feedback is addressed appropriately.
- Address design-related issues and challenges promptly, providing effective solutions to maintain project progress.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their vision and expectations and ensure these are reflected in the design approvals.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, discipline reviewers and other design professionals to integrate interior design elements seamlessly into the overall project.
- Utilize advanced design tools and software, including BIM, CAD, SketchUp, and other state-of-the-art applications, to review and refine design proposals.
- Oversee the interior design aspects of the project, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in interior design and incorporate innovative solutions into the project.
- Advice on sourcing and selection of appropriate materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet the project's aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Explore opportunities to incorporate sustainable design practices and materials to enhance the environmental performance of the project.
- Develop and optimize space plans to ensure efficient use of space and enhance user experience.
- Lead the development of interior design concepts, including mood boards, sketches, and 3D models, to communicate design ideas effectively.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure the accurate implementation of interior design elements.
- Ensure all interior design work complies with relevant international and local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed design documentation, including specifications, schedules, and reports, to support project execution.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and other team members, fostering professional growth and development.
- Ensure that Contractors' designs satisfy all project requirements. Manage any proposed deviations through the appropriate technical and commercial processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in interior design, Architecture, or a related field from recognized institutions.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in interior design, strictly with a significant portion dedicated to transportation projects such as metro rail stations, transportation hubs, commercial buildings, public buildings, airports, and mega hospitality projects.
- Firsthand experience of manging the interior design and material selection, detailing and construction within transport projects.
- Proficiency in any or all of the following as required: BIM, CAD, SketchUp, 3DS Max, Foyr Neo and other relevant design tools.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale interior design projects, preferably within a PMC environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality design reviews and approvals.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in interior design, with a portfolio showcasing successful projects in transportation and other major sectors.
- Extensive knowledge of interior design materials, finishes, and furnishings, including their properties, applications, and availability.
- Strong knowledge of international and local design codes and standards as applicable.
- Should have comprehensive understanding of requirements on similar projects.
- Ability to address and resolve design issues promptly and efficiently.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing and approving design submissions.
