Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation's Conveyance Division is seeking a motivated hard-working individual wanting to make a difference in our sewer utility. This position is tasked with setting/calibrating metering equipment, maintenance and minor repairs at designated chemical dosing units located throughout Pima County. This position installs, operates, and maintains the wastewater flow monitoring, closed-circuit television (CCTV), odor control equipment, and inspects and documents the physical condition of components of sanitary sewage conveyance systems.
Essential Functions

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of three college-level classes from an accredited college, university or trade school in physical or environmental science AND six months of experience in environmental technology or other relevant experience as defined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
One year of experience in the maintenance and/or operation of sanitary sewage infrastructure or similar industrial facilities and equipment.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum/desired qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
Special Notice Items: Some positions may carry the risk of exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, asbestos or wastewater products, therefore special medical screening before or during employment may be necessary to assure employee health and safety. The County requires pre-employment background checks. - Installs, operates, and maintains the flow monitoring, CCTV, and odor control equipment in the wastewater conveyance systems;
- Inspects, collects, and documents data relative to the quantity of odor levels, flow, typ,e and condition of pipeline, obstructions, meter operation,n and other pertinent information;
- Sets up and operates traffic control devices to facilitate the safe entry of manholes to install, operate, collect, adjust, or service metering equipment;
- Answers inquiries and provides information to the public regarding sanitary sewerage systems functions and conditions;
- Participates in the selection of wastewater monitoring locations for reliable sample collection, flow metering, CCTV inspections and assessments, and testing odor levels;
- Coordinates activities with Conveyance, Industrial Wastewater Control, and Treatment Plants to minimize/avoid service disruption in compliance with state and federal permit regulations;
- Participates in performing special surveys to collect data required for determining stormwater inflow, for setting rates, and for use in planning and engineering;
- Participates with the department in the development of improved or new techniques and procedures for measuring wastewater flow and/or odor levels;
- Maintains, monitors, disassembles, cleans, reassembles, installs, and tests equipment and makes necessary adjustments and/or minor repairs;
- Maintains and operates assigned County equipment and vehicle;
- Creates and maintains automated file systems for documenting collected data and producing reports;
- Assists in the training of personnel in the procedures and techniques required for metering the sanitary sewage flow, performing CCTV inspections and assessments, and controlling odors in the conveyance systems.

- Minimum two (2) years experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting small pumps and motors.
- Minimum two (2) years experience with Microsoft Office Suite software with an emphasis on Excel.
