JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate CNC machines independently with minimal instruction or supervision
  • Validate machine programs and work instructions prior to machining
  • Detect and correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining using control adjustments
  • Execute first article setups to prove out programs and setup instructions
  • Document activities accurately using work order routings
  • Proof CNC programs without assistance
  • Maintain communication across shifts regarding actions, irregularities, and job continuity
  • Collaborate in a high-paced environment with changing production priorities
  • Report production or quality issues to appropriate management
  • Consistently meet or exceed company production targets
  • Adhere to NOV safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Conduct inspections during part runs to ensure dimensions and surface finishes meet requirements


FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Mori-Seiki CNC machines with FANUC controls
  • Set up machines, load/unload parts, apply offsets, and determine the optimal manufacturing plan
  • Execute or adjust programs to match part specifications and tolerances


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Vocational or technical training in machining preferred
  • 5-7 years of machining experience or equivalent combination of experience and trade school education
  • Strong experience with CNC lathes and vertical mills


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, etc.) throughout the shift
  • Must be able to work in environments with physical and chemical hazards (dust, fumes, heat, etc.)
  • May be required to participate in medical surveillance per HSE standards
  • Must understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • English communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules

  • Understands tooling dimensions, tolerances, speeds, and feeds
  • Proficient in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.)
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and GD&T specifications
  • Holds tight machining tolerances and selects tooling independently
  • Applies shop math, geometry, and trigonometry to solve machining problems
  • Monitors machine operations and adjusts as needed
  • Capable of developing or modifying NC programs to meet engineering requirements


PHYSICAL/NON-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Operate machinery continuously for 8-12 hours per day
  • Must lift/pull/push up to 50 lbs. during setups
  • Frequent bending required for setups and inspections
  • Must be able to listen to machines and tooling for proper operation
