Our client, a communications agency in Houston, is looking for Instructional Designer with deep expertise in the Oil & Gas industry for a 6-month contract with the potential to turn into a permanent role. This position will help to support a large-scale business transformation initiative. This role requires a dynamic learning professional who can conduct comprehensive training needs assessments by analyzing evolving business processes, functional shifts, and workforce capabilities driven by significant IT and system changes. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing high-impact, learner-centric training solutions-including e-learning, instructor-led training, toolkits, and job aids-tailored to a wide range of employee roles. The ideal candidate will also facilitate both live and virtual training sessions across multiple business functions, ensuring knowledge transfer, learner engagement, and measurable outcomes. This is a 6-month contract that requires 4-days/week onsite in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth training needs assessments by evaluating process changes, functional roles, and system transformations.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), business leads, and transformation teams to gather and validate learning requirements.
- Design and develop effective, high-quality instructional materials including e-learning courses, instructor-led content, virtual training sessions, job aids, and toolkits.
- Customize learning experiences to match diverse learner profiles, technical competencies, and operational roles across the Oil & Gas value chain.
- Lead the delivery of engaging live and virtual training sessions that drive adoption of new processes and technologies.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics to continuously improve training outcomes.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of training materials aligned with transformation milestones.
- Maintain alignment with industry standards and best practices in instructional design, adult learning, and change management.
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design, with at least 2 years supporting learning initiatives in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven experience conducting training needs analysis in the context of business transformation and/or system implementations.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
- Proficiency with learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or equivalent.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and virtual training platforms (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors, Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams).
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical and process information into clear, accessible training materials.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities, with attention to detail and quality.
