We are seeking a skilled engineering intern to develop computer models of single axis solar trackers starting from first principles and combining experimental characteristics of various electrical and mechanical components. We are looking for someone who demonstrates analytical skills, curiosity and commitment to learn and innovate, can-do attitude, attention to details and passion for the solar industry. This position is based in Fremont, CA and reports to the Director of Systems Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Build high-fidelity analytical models of electrical and mechanical components of single axis solar trackers (motors, transmissions, controllers, batteries, etc.)
• Integrate component models into system-level models that can simulate tracker performance and operation
• Use the newly developed models to support the design of new products, optimize the configuration and operation of existing products, investigate service anomalies, and ensure that the overall system performance meets all requirements

Qualifications

• Currently attending BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent
• One year or less from graduation
• Understanding of engineering and physics fundamentals
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or other high-level general-purpose programming language
• Familiarity with mathematical modeling of engineering problems starting from first principles
