Your role and responsibilities
In this role, PMO is pivotal in guiding the process from strategy to implementation. To lead, coach, support, coordinate and monitor with related Local/Global R&D units into NPI strategy breakdown, process, tools and platform development, synergy and optimization. Develops or creates products, systems, services, or technologies for ABB's business units by leading/facilitating the end-to-end execution of one or more Research and Development (R&D) projects to achieve associated milestones, targets, and desired outcomes. This role is contributing to the Electrification business area You will be mainly accountable for: Project/Process Leadership • Provides data-driven decision support for project initiatives to management through strategic alignment and decomposition of business objectives • Synergizes project management methodologies and processes by collaborating with Global R&D • Coordinates and synergizes the technology platforms, design tools and R&D process cross Local LBL/PLs • Leads and supports local and cross-functional project teams, monitors and coaches the R&D project managers to achieve the project targets • Motivates and monitors internal and/or external resources to accomplish all committed targets. • Fosters a positive team environment, technical excellence, and continuous attention to quality and built-in quality practices. • Ensure objectives, priorities, key decisions, and status are effectively communicated to all stakeholders. Project Management • Accountable for the projects/programs planning, coordination, execution and delivery. • Project management platform, tools and process setup to implementation • Oversees / facilitates the development and management of cost, schedule, quality, and performance objectives for projects. • Identifies and manages interdependencies between projects/programs constraints to realize specified benefits. • Ensures appropriate prioritization of requirements within a project by partnering with relevant business unit/s or other customers. Value Management • Ensures team understanding of customer value in the projects and acts to ensure customer satisfaction and manage stakeholder expectations. • Engages stakeholders in defining value and integrates feedback into activities. Project Execution and Control • Synergizes and standardizes the project development, approval and execution processes • Ensures that project activities are effectively prioritized, estimated, and planned. • Monitors and controls progress on the plan to ensure achievement of commitments and targeted milestones/stage-gates. • Ensures efficient utilization of available resource capacity and proactively addresses critical resource bottlenecks and project constraints. • Analyzes project budget and estimates. • Monitors and controls progress, cost/financials, and quality. • Reports to and takes directives from the steering committee or other governing body and provides them and other key stakeholders with regular and open communication to ensure transparency and awareness of progress and issues. • Ensures issues, conflicts, and impediments are resolved at the appropriate level (i.e., team, project), escalating them as required. • Applies appropriate project management tools to manage and optimize execution and value delivery. • Utilizes the appropriate metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide early detection of project deviations, and facilitates data-driven decision-making and transparency. • Formalizes acceptance of project deliverables and closure of all project elements based on the definition of done. Manage Uncertainties and Risks • Ensures transparency around change requests, unforeseen results/events and identified risks. • Ensures that changes, risks, and issues are properly assessed, managed, and communicated. • Documents key assumptions and corresponding risks. • Ensures that all opportunities are captured and acted upon. Stakeholder Relations • Serves as the key contact and escalation point for project stakeholders. • Effectively engages and communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in a timely manner to achieve desired buy-in, understanding and support. Mentoring and Coaching • Coaches and mentors teams, associate R&D Project Managers and other stakeholders in good project execution / development practices and mindsets. Collaboration • Models and promotes team collaboration within R&D, as well as between R&D and Product Management and other functions/stakeholders. • Partners with business managers, steering groups, Product Management, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure execution alignment and predictability to optimize value delivery. Projects, Processes, and Tools • Ensures projects follow sound methodology and execution practices, aligned with desired development model (e.g., predictive/waterfall, iterative/agile, hybrid) and in accordance with applicable ABB internal directives and procedures as well as external standards, etc., that influence activities and targets. • Serves as advocate and change agent for driving desired ways of working (e.g., lean, agile, Scrum, SAFe) and relentless improvement. • Ensures project/team retrospectives are routinely conducted and corresponding lessons learned are captured and widely shared on a regular basis (i.e., at the achievement of key milestones/gates, completion of program increments). Networking • Manages, and expands relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers, and external relevant parties (e.g., customers, academia). • Participates and encourages participation of R&D Associate Project Managers in Communities of Practice.+

Qualifications for the role
- Master or bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical or Electronics
- 15+ years in R&D design and project management, PMP and NPDP certification preferred
- Broad technical knowledge of the relevant technologies of Smart Building
- Good knowledge in IP, risk management, project management and process improvement
- Good understanding and rich experience of the product development related processes and manufacturing technologies and basic financial knowledge
- Strategic thinker and strong customer focused
- Excellent innovation capability
- Self-motivated, open mindset, high curiosity and ability to learn about new technologies
- Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in both oral and written English
