Role Overview

As a Business Development Manager, you will identify, develop, and manage strategic commercial partnerships and funding opportunities in the nuclear and fusion energy landscape. You will need a strong grasp of the UK and international energy ecosystem, government and regulatory frameworks, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling business cases.

You'll work across government, utilities, industrial partners, and consortia - while also collaborating with TWI's internal experts to turn engineering capability into commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Sector Growth
  • Deliver a personal sales target of £2.5M+ per annum, with support from technical teams
  • Develop strategic, actionable sales and partnership plans over a 3-5 year horizon
  • Act as Key Account Manager for TWI's top 5 nuclear sector clients

Strategic Business Development
  • Identify and pursue commercial opportunities across government, utility, industrial, and international markets
  • Drive access to funding through innovation programmes, government frameworks, and commercial channels
  • Create joint industry projects (JIPs) and strategic collaborations to solve sector-wide challenges

Sector Engagement & Insight
  • Attend and represent TWI at major industry events, investor briefings, and consortium meetings
  • Lead market and competitive intelligence initiatives to shape commercial strategy
  • Contribute to go-to-market and commercialisation roadmaps for emerging technologies in nuclear and fusion
  • Build and lead a Virtual Sector Team of internal experts to support delivery

Internal Collaboration
  • Work cross-functionally to shape innovative technical offers and bid strategies
  • Ensure smooth handover and delivery through close coordination with project managers and engineers
  • Provide accurate forecasting of orders, revenues, and client pipelines

Travel:

This position may require regular travel across the UK and occasionally abroad.
