Utility Operator's Job Summary
Plays a vital role in ensuring the daily operation of wastewater and water treatment processes. You also contribute to the maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems by operating equipment and performing various essential tasks. Your responsibilities encompass sample collection and meter maintenance, water line installations and repairs, equipment and infrastructure upkeep, sewer line cleaning, and fire hydrant maintenance. Contacts are typically with co-workers and members of the general public.
Major Duties:
Sample Collection and Meter Maintenance
Install and Repair Water Lines
Maintenance and Upkeep on City Equipment, Sewer Lines, and Manholes
Monthly Sewer Line Cleaning
Fire Hydrant Maintenance
Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
Experience:
Minimum of One (1) year of previous experience.
Certifications & Licensing:
TCEQ Class C Water and/or Wastewater. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid "Class C" driver's license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Physical Abilities:
• Work requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
• Work requires the ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement.
• Work requires the ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach.
• Work requires the ability to climb and balance.
• Work requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend.
• Work requires the ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment.
• Work requires the ability to taste and/or smell.
• Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Work requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
