Wood is recruiting for an Automation Communication Specialist III to join its Operations team focusing on Oil & Gas (OA). This opportunity is in Midland, TX.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all network equipment and infrastructure that supports the Automation network. This includes network switches, radios, fiber optic infrastructure, and PLC to PLC communications. Wood offers health benefits, 401K, vacation, and more. The Role
  • Core requirements: Strong technical expertise in automation networks, network infrastructure, and communication systems. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex systems.

The Automation Communication Specialist III is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of the automation network infrastructure. This includes installing and configuring network hardware, programming communication systems, performing maintenance, and resolving technical issues. The role also involves working with automation tools such as OPC servers, GIS programs, and SolarWinds.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical responsibilities

• Install and configure network switches, radios, fiber optics, and PLC communication systems
• Develop and implement programming solutions for network equipment
• Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal functionality
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and infrastructure issues
• Work with automation systems including OPC servers, GIS programs, and SolarWinds
• Monitor and manage network performance and reliability

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills And Qualifications

Expected:
• Proven experience in installation, programming, and maintenance of network infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of network switches, radios, fiber optics, and PLC to PLC communications
• Experience with automation systems such as OPC servers, GIS, and SolarWinds
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:
• Certifications in networking or telecommunications
• Experience with automation networks and related technologies
