Responsibilities:
As the Nuclear Licensing Subject Matter Expert, you will:
- Manage elements of the licensing of new nuclear power plant licensing projects in the United States (U.S.).
- Manage small teams of licensing engineers and contractors to support project delivery on time with quality.
- Assist Project Leads to manage and drive the work assigned to multiple teams of licensing engineers and contractors within each project.
- Develop licensing strategies to navigate through complex technical issues and mitigate licensing risks.
- Coordinate and prepare Licensing Topical Reports (LTRs), including preparation of responses to customer and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) questions.
- Assist in the preparation of licensing applications for new nuclear power plants, including Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 10CFR50 Construction Permit and Operating License Applications and 10CFR52 Combined Operating License Applications.
- Prepare licensing documentation and reports supporting customer License Amendment Request (LAR).
- Perform Technical Specification reviews and updates.
- Prepare and perform verification tasks for safety evaluations.
- Interface with customers, internal stakeholders and regulatory personnel on regulatory issues, and to secure applicable permissions and approvals related to work scopes.
- Uphold compliance with business processes and procedures and support business needs including in finance, commercial, project, product and human resources.
- Support the development of Licensing Proposals and responses to Requests for Information from prospective new U.S. Customers.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge in NRC Licensing process and regulatory knowledge / technical knowledge in new nuclear plant licensing including licensing application requirements under 10CFR50 and 10CFR52, with a minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
- 2-5 years of people management experience.
- 5 years of commercial operating nuclear power plant experience.
- 3 years of experience leading or independently completing complex projects and providing regulatory guidance / direction to contributing functions (i.e., Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Analysis).
- Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
- Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college, with a minimum of 9 years of related professional work experience.
- Master's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college, with a minimum of 7 years of related professional work experience including Over 10 years of experience leading or independently completing complex projects and providing regulatory guidance / direction to contributing functions (i.e., Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Analysis).
- Extensive knowledge in NRC Licensing process and regulatory knowledge / technical knowledge in new nuclear plant licensing including licensing application requirements under 10CFR50 and 10CFR52.
Location/Work Arrangement:
- This position is a Hybrid Work Arrangement at Oak Ridge, TN with some travel/onsite requirements.
