Ardurra is seeking an experienced Geospatial GIS & AI Analyst to join our Public Works team in our Houston, TX location!

In this role, you will apply advanced geographic information systems (GIS), spatial analytics and AI/machine learning techniques to support the monitoring, prediction, and optimization of municipal wastewater systems and infrastructure.

Primary Function:

Ardurra is looking for a GIS-experienced Geospatial AI Analyst to support spatial data integration and analysis efforts for municipal wastewater planning and operations. This includes working with spatial and temporal data from sensors, satellite imagery, SCADA systems, and IoT networks to improve asset management, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.

This position requires GIS (Geographic Information System) expertise, including experience with geospatial visualization, spatial database management, and map-based decision support.

Primary Duties:

• Analyze and interpret spatial and temporal data relevant to wastewater infrastructure, including flow rates, pollutant levels, catchment areas, and infrastructure layouts.
• Use GIS tools to develop detailed maps, spatial models, and visualizations that support engineering design and utility planning.
• Develop AI/ML models that integrate spatial data (e.g., satellite imagery, sensor locations, elevation models) to detect anomalies, predict system failures, and optimize wastewater treatment processes.
• Build and maintain spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, SpatiaLite) and manage GIS data layers that are relevant wastewater projects
• Integrate data from multiple sources (GIS, SCADA, IoT sensors, satellite imagery) for enhanced situational awareness and infrastructure planning.
• Support digital twin development for wastewater infrastructure using spatial and operational data.
• Create interactive GIS dashboards, maps, and real-time visual tools to support engineers, planners, and utility operators in real-time decision-making.
• Collaborate with environmental engineers, data scientists, and GIS professionals on cross-functional projects.
• Support regulatory reporting and environmental compliance analysis through spatial data modeling and spatial analysis.
• Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in geospatial AI, remote sensing technologies, and smart water technologies.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Science, Environmental Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Must have experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial databases (PostGIS, SpatiaLite).
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in geospatial analysis, spatial data modeling, and GIS applications and/or AI applications, preferably in the water or environmental sector.
• Proficiency in Python or R with geospatial libraries (e.g., geopandas, rasterio, GDAL, etc.).
• Experience with machine learning tools (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and time series modeling
• Familiarity with AWS Data Lake.
• Working knowledge of remote sensing platforms and satellite data for environmental monitoring.
• Understanding of wastewater systems, hydraulics, or urban drainage models is a strong plus.
• Experience with cloud-based tools and platforms (e.g., Google Earth Engine, AWS, Azure) is desirable.
