Supervises the Water Utility Maintenance staff in the performance of repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance activities on electrical and mechanical equipment at water and wastewater treatment plants, wastewater lift stations, water distribution pump stations, and reclaim irrigation pump stations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
Four (4) years of experience in a work environment such as process control, operations, water distribution or wastewater collections, construction, or in the operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical or industrial equipment OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must hold an appropriate TCEQ License or have the ability to obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, and use of foot controls. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs above the head.
Works outdoors in hot, cold, and/or wet weather, exposure to noise and vibration from machinery, toxic chemicals and gases, work in confined spaces (vaults, dry pits), work with wastewater biohazards, work with electrical voltages in excess of 480V, and high-pressure water from sewer machines.
Hiring Range: $38.18 - $47.83, hourly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises a team of Water Utility Maintenance staff in their duties.
- Works with management to plan and carry out day-to-day and special project activities.
- Maintains records of employee and division performance.
- Provides mentoring, coaching, and guidance for staff.
- Conducts on-the-job training for Water Utility Maintenance staff.
- Performs regular on-site safety evaluations.
- Performs quarterly and annual employee performance evaluations.
- Carries out disciplinary and corrective actions to ensure staff performance meets expectations as needed.
- Schedules and assigns staff to the division's work orders.
- Coordinates with vendors, contractors, and City staff to schedule any specialized maintenance activities.
- Identifies and procures any equipment or material required for utility maintenance activities.
- Manages the usage of the division's budget and assists with projecting future needs.
- Maintains and administers the divisions' on-call schedules.
- Reviews construction plans to ensure that they meet our design criteria and include our standardized equipment.
- Drafts and revises standard operating procedures, training plans, and internal policies.
- Conducts recruitment and hiring for the assigned division.
- Will perform, as necessary, all duties expected of the Water Utility Maintenance staff.
- This position requires availability for on-call duties on a rotational schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid current Texas Class "C" Driver's License.
- TCEQ Class C Water (Surface/Ground/Distribution) license and a TCEQ Class C Wastewater Treatment or TCEQ Collections II license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection processes and procedures, and regulatory requirements under normal, temporary, and emergency operating conditions.
- Knowledge of diagnostic techniques and troubleshooting methodology.
- Knowledge of confined space entry procedures and related equipment.
- Knowledge of energy isolation and safety procedures i.e., lockout/tagout.
- Knowledge of system hydraulics, pump curves, and flow paths
- Skill at reading, analyzing, interpreting, and modifying blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Skilled in precision alignment of rotating equipment.
- Skilled in the use of computers and related software for all maintenance and employee activities.
- Skilled in using cranes, lifts, hoists, and rigging.
- Skilled at multitasking work and communication with multiple points of contact.
- Skill at preparing written reports and drafting items for Water Board meetings.
- Skilled at evaluating employee performance, tracking progression, and motivating staff.
- Skill at analyzing and making recommendations on optimizing operational processes and/or maintenance schedules.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with your team and peers.
- Ability to schedule and prioritize projects and work in the work order management system.
- Ability to utilize SCADA and trends to identify or troubleshoot potential issues in the system.
- Ability to make sound decisions during times of high stress.
