The opportunity:
The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) works to support the build of a subsea rock installation vessel (SRIV) and works under supervision of the Chief Engineer. In absence of these persons, they will report to the Director of Marine Operations. All shipyard and crew electrical personnel, either employees or third-party worker fall under supervision of the ETO. The ETO has overall on-site responsibility for the vessel's electrical systems.

Responsibilities and functions include:
- Carry out daily inspections and maintenance on electronical equipment and controls systems. Document the same with accurate reporting within the maintenance system
- Ensure energy isolation system is followed according to Company policy and industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair all electrical systems including but not limited to dynamic positioning, communications equipment, data acquisition, navigation equipment, mission equipment controls, electrical distribution systems, computers, etc.
- Carry out installation, calibration, and modification to electrical systems and components.
- Provide technical support to original equipment manufacturer representatives/support as well as third party support.
- Coordinate with Company shoreside IT personnel on upgrades/repairs/maintenance on vessel network, servers, condition monitoring systems, etc.
- Proactively inform supervisor, Engineer on Watch, and Bridge Watchstander of degradations within ship electronic systems.
- Ensure all electrical equipment brought onboard the SRIV is suitable for use per Company requirements and certified, including third party equipment.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed when working on/around electrical equipment.
- Facilitate use of JSA, Take Five, Safety Walks and other Company safety initiatives within daily tasks.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Prior On the Job Training and experience in a similar role in the offshore industry.
- USCG STCW Electrical Technical Officer or Electrical Technical Rating endorsement.
- Electronic Technology/Engineering certificate or degree
- TWIC card required
- Previous experience working large controls systems containing PLC's, SCADA screens, I/O modules, etc.
- The ability to learn and use the procedures associated with living on a vessel such as firefighting, first aid, and use of life saving equipment
- Commitment to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Excellent communication skills - able to express ideas, provide clear direction, ensure audience understanding
- Maintains positive attitude, and can motivate and improve team morale
- Complete a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and background check
- Valid passport
- Experience on vessels with Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems and knowledgeable on DP2 requirements
- Knowledge of shipboard large capacity energy storage systems (batteries, fuel cells, ultracapacitors, etc) is preferred
