About the position:
The VAT Analyst is responsible for preparing and filing VAT returns for Chevron legal entities for the business that is carried out in different countries ensuring tax compliance.
Required Qualifications/Soft skills:
- +5 years of Indirect Tax experience.
- Analytical thinking to understand discrepancies or inaccurate documentation and make necessary adjustments. Able to explain the financial/tax impact of the accounting entries made.
- Detail -oriented. Able to identify and coordinate relevant data under scope.
- Experience of internal controls practices and compliance topics such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Knowledge in ERP & PC applications.
- Clear oral/written English skills to respond or solicit information within and outside work group.
- Able to identify and initiate work process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Analytical skills to identify and resolve complex discrepancies or anomalies that frequently have impact in other work groups. Clear understanding of the financial/tax impact of the accounting entries made.
- Detail -oriented.
- Clear oral/written English skills. Leads dialogue with other work teams.
- Able to set priorities and manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience with internal controls practices and compliance topics such as Sarbanes-Oxley testing.
- Able to identify and initiate work process improvements.
Key responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Provides support to different BUs with inquires related to accountancy /invoices treatment
- Extracts, analyzes, and summarizes sales data from BW reporting system and other sources to prepare VAT tax returns and calculate tax liability and file tax returns accordingly.
- Serves as a resource to other tax analysts for both tax regulations and tax reporting system.
- Generates ad-hoc reports and validates data for VAT Tax Compliance team.
- Supports Team Lead in the review of regulations and procedures to handle inquiries from internal and external counterparties including Government Agencies and Third Party consultancies.
- Performs the account reconciliation for the tax returns prepared to ensure accuracy.
Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.
