Wood is currently looking for expressions of interest for Field Engineers - (SMP) Structural, Mechanical, Piping and (IE) Instrumentation and Electrical to join our team here in PNG.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a world-class project in a remote but rewarding environment, supporting the delivery of critical works across the mine and processing plant.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the execution of engineering and construction activities, working closely with the project delivery team and site operations teams. The Field Engineer will be part of a home office engineering team providing interface support to ensure all technical aspects of the field works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and site requirements.

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the execution of engineering and construction activities, working closely with the project delivery team and site operations teams. The Field Engineer will be part of a home office engineering team providing interface support to ensure all technical aspects of the field works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and site requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to home office engineering, construction, maintenance and shutdown teams on structural, mechanical, piping, or electrical instrumentation scopes
- Ensure field activities are executed in line with approved drawings, specifications and procedures
- Assist in the resolution of technical issues arising during construction or commissioning activities
- Perform on-site inspections, verifications, and progress tracking against work packs and ITPs.
- Liaise with Project Engineers, Supervisors and QA/QC to ensure alignment on scope and quality requirements
- Contribute to planning, sequencing, and workface readiness of upcoming scopes
- Promote and uphold site safety and environmental standards in all activities
- Mentor local trades and contribute to upskilling initiatives on site
QUALIFICATIONS
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Piping or Electrical)
- 5 years' experience in mining or heavy industry projects as a qualified engineer
- 2+ year's site experience in field engineering or construction support roles in mining or heavy industry
- Prior experience on remote FIFO sites or international projects (preferably in PNG or similar environments)
- Familiarity with mining or gold processing facilities highly desirable
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, QA/QC processes, and relevant codes and standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and exposure to engineering tools (AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc)

- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and adapt to remote site conditions
- Current valid passport and ability to pass site medical and background checks
