Program Summary

The Center for Army Analysis (CAA) is dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of field artillery and air and missile defense through advanced modeling and simulation. As part of the Fires Team, the selected AFSIM developer will play a crucial role in refining and developing models that support Operations Research, Mission and Campaign Analysis, and other critical tasks for HQDA/CAA, including TAA and SPAR modeling and simulation support. This program aims to provide robust analytical tools and insights to improve decision-making and strategic planning within the Army, ensuring optimal performance and readiness in various operational scenarios.

Job Summary

KBR is seeking an AFSIM developer with experience supporting analysis for activities such as the Center for Army Analysis or similar organizations. The selectee will serve as a member of the Fires Team, providing on-site support to the Center for Army Analysis (CAA) supporting field artillery and air and missile defense model development and refinement. These efforts will support Operations Research, Mission and Campaign Analysis, and other HQDA/CAA tasks such as TAA and SPAR modeling and simulation support.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct Army Fires analysis using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) tools.
  • Develop campaign, mission, engagement level models, simulation tools, and other operations research techniques
  • Employ campaign-level and mission distinct representations and analyses of Army Fires, allied and partner forces, and threats.
  • Coordinate with Army Fires subject matter experts across the Headquarters Department of Army and other organizations to reflect doctrinal integration and appropriate weapon-system representations.
  • Collaborate with other team members to create and script scenarios supporting analytic requirements.
  • Support follow-on data review and analysis, post-processing, and data visualization.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of operational problems/ Modeling and Simulation and 2 years of AFSIM development experience.
  • BS degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Math, Engineering) requiring substantial programming/coding experience and 3 years of work experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and other relevant object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • SECRET security is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Army and Army Fires systems
  • Mathematical Modeling: Ability to apply mathematical modeling techniques in a military context.
  • Algorithmic Knowledge: Familiarity with algorithms relevant to modeling and simulation.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in C++ and other relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Data Analysis: Familiarity with data analysis tools such as R or Python.
